A tiny glow up for these mid century bedsides before & after

My first attempt at a dressing table conversion to bedsides and I’m pretty happy with the results. Before and after

This darling mid century sideboard was in bad condition. Remnants of paint, scrapes, missing veneer. It was in dire need of some love. It has been hand sanded, plugged, missing veneer replaced and finished with the beautiful choc walnut stain and varnish by Feast Watson

I’ve been neglecting furniture this year but I’ve finally found a few moments spare to do another piece. I love to bring mid century gems back to life. Unfortunately the body of this one wasn’t amazing quality so I had to settle for paint. However the fronts of the drawers were a beautiful oak and have been finished off with gloss varnish. Their products are stunning with mid century pieces. I found original mid century legs and hardware that complement this piece.

As a general rule painting teak is a really bad idea. This mid century piece was no exception to that rule. Sanding. Stripping. More sanding and it’s back to its original (or close to) self. The stain is the magic aged teak by Feast Watson. Their range is as close to the original finish I’ve found on the market for mid century.

I wasn’t intending on keeping this bench, seems Claudia has decided otherwise. Before & after

A quick number on this little bedroom chair

I love a good tip shop find. Underneath this rugged exterior was beautiful blackwood timber. Body refurbished with a paint job because the timber was far too damaged.

I’ve had these exquisite Birds Eye Huon pine antique drawers for a couple of years. The top was getting worse for wear and I didn’t want to tackle it because I knew it would be a specialist job, so I called in the big guns. Bondy A Bond Creations did not disappoint. These drawers have been given the much needed attention that they deserve. If you need some antiques restored I can’t recommend Ange highly enough.

These mid century bedside tables by Burgess looked ok** but close up they were riddled with scratches and marks. Underneath the layers of gunk they used in the 60s is this fabulous Queensland maple.

They have been stripped back and sanded. All that has been applied to the top is an ultra gloss clear varnish to show case the beautiful timber

Who would have known this lovely tas oak was under that rubbish paint?

🤫 I did…!

I’ve had a similar set before. The body is MDF but the lovely timber on the drawers needs to be displayed

These mid century drawers have been given a facelift & saved from the rubbish heap.
