Transforming this home’s journey from walnut floors downstairs to light oak upstairs! Our client wanted to replace carpeted stairs with a seamless flow. We crafted custom walnut stair treads that complement the downstairs, while upstairs shines in light oak. The landing? A handcrafted pattern blending both. A perfect marriage of materials and design by TSY Furniture.

For decades, the pews of St George’s Anglican Church at 32 Ralph Street, Reservoir have quietly witnessed generations of the community — weddings, baptisms, farewells, celebrations, and moments of reflection. Installed in 1968, these pews have supported over half a century of shared moments, holding families, supporting prayers, and standing as part of something greater than themselves.

As the church evolves and its needs change, it would have been easy for these pews to disappear.

Instead, we were given the privilege of continuing their story.

Crafted from solid Victorian Ash, grown and milled here in Victoria, the timber remains strong, honest, and full of character.

At TSY Furniture, we don’t just see reclaimed timber.
We see legacy.

Each pew is carefully dismantled and transported to our Heidelberg West workshop, where the timber is re-milled, refined, and prepared for new designs. While the original pew forms are not retained, the material itself continues into a new chapter through our work.

From this material, new forms will emerge — including dining tables, coffee tables, and wall-mount TV units. Contemporary pieces that respect the origin of the timber while giving it a new purpose.

These will be produced as a once-off series.

What once served a congregation in Reservoir will now serve generations of families across Melbourne and beyond.

This is more than repurposing timber.
It is heritage, given a new chapter.

We are also accepting a limited number of bespoke commissions using this Victorian Ash.

A second life.
