This new piece is one of a series of brooches I have been making for the ‘in the drawer’ exhibition currently showing at Small Space jewellery as part of Radiant Pavillion in Melbourne.
This is my reflection on the kind of objects we may find in the not so distant future.
A merge of hair and toy, part organic and part fabricated, an object that could grow and keep on replicating.
Binary Coir, 2019
PCL plastic (biodegradable), stainless steel
Approx. 80mm x 30mm x 30mm

I don’t share much about my work here anymore as I’m hardly ever on Facebook but this was such a nice little surprise to read an article in Klimt02 about a show I have some work in. It’s called ‘in the drawer’ at Small Space Jewellery in Melbourne, Curated by Robyn Wernicke and it was part of Radiant Pavilion the contemporary jewellery biennale. I was lucky enough to visit Small Space and see the show, so many wonders inside each drawer! If you’re in Melbourne make sure to go and have a peek. The show is on until the 28th of September. 😊🎉

What's in the drawer? Have you ever opened a drawer with a feeling of anticipation? Or sneaked a peek in someone else's drawer. Did it tell a story? What was your emotional response? Shock, guilt, horror, surprise, delight, disgust?

Gaffa Unlocked!
On Tuesday the 9th of October we will unlock the hidden upper levels of our building for a glimpse into our studios. This one day event as part of Sydney Craft Week is a perfect opportunity to meet our precinct’s resident jewellers and explore this rare creative hub in the middle of Sydney’s CBD.
Our rooftop will be open for you to have a drink amongst our urban jungle with an awesome view of the city.
Gaffa Unlocked is a perfect opportunity to discuss any ideas you’ve had for bespoke pieces, as well as sampling collections at direct prices.
Come and join the party!
