#Satkania(সাতকানিয়া): an Upazila of in the District & Division of Chittagong, Bangladesh.

#Satkania has 50656 units of house hold and total area 282.40 km².

#Satkania has 17 Unions/Wards, 73 Mauzas/Mahallas, and 100 villages.

#As of the 1991 Bangladesh census, Satkania has a population of 299762. Males constitute are 50.1% of the population, and females 49.9%. This Upazila's eighteen up population is 139511. Satkania has an average literacy rate of 30.4% (7+ years).

#Geographical coordinates are 22° 4' 0" North, 92° 3' 0" East.

#Satkania is bounded by chandanaish upazila on the north, lohagaraupazila on the south, bandarban sadar upazila on the east, banshkhali and anwara upazilas on the west. The area of the town is 17.11 sq km. The town has a population of 43176; male 49.67% and female 50.33%; population density per sq km 2524. Literacy rate among the town people is 40.1%. The upazila town is a noted trade centre. Administration: Satkania thana was established in 1917 and was turned into an upazila in 1983. The upazila consists of 17 union parishads, 71 mouzas and 100 villages. Archaeological heritage and relics: Three domed Dargaon Mosque (satkania union) and Deputy Mosque (15th century AD, Sonakania union), coins engraved with figure (13th century AD) and Thakur Dighi (Satkania), Kotwal Dighi (Sonakania). Historical events During the War of Liberation: the Pakistan Army plundered at Baniapara (south Satkania) and set on fire a number of houses. Afterwards they killed twenty-four innocent people. Marks of the War of Liberation Memorial monument: 1. Religious institutions: Mosque 1025, tomb 18, Hindu temple 61 and Buddhist temple 8, most noted of which are Voalia Para Majher Mosque, Mazar of Ajgar Shah (R), Satkania Sadar Sri Sri Dhakhinshhari Kali Bari, Kanchana Kali Bari, Koroia Nagar and Sonakania Buddhist Vihara. Population: 299762; male 50.10% and female 49.90%; Muslim 86.75%, Hindu 11.89%, Buddhist 1.32%, Christian and others 0.04%. Main crops: Paddy, potato, chilli, brinjal, mustard, tomato, ground nut, pumpkin, pulse and turmeric. Extinct or nearly extinct crops: Sugarcane, pineapple, jute, wheat, corn and betel nut. Main fruits: Mango, black berry, jackfruit, banana, litchi, papaya, guava, amra (hog plum), coconut, dalim (pomgranate) and shaddock (jambura).
