✨ We’ve arrived in Calgary, friends! ✨
Caning Canada is here and we’re now booking beautiful Danish cord and cane weaving projects for August! Secure your spot before we head back to Vancouver for the winter.
There’s something truly special about a family heirloom — that chair your grandmother sat in, the one that holds decades of laughter, Sunday dinners, and quiet morning coffees. In a world dominated by technology and throwaway fast furniture, we believe in preserving what matters most.
Vintage pieces were made to last generations. At Caning Canada, we make sure they do — with warm, hand-woven Danish cord repairs done with care and craftsmanship you can feel.
It’s more than just furniture restoration. It’s about taking pride in your home, honoring memories, and choosing quality over quick replacements. Our prices are fair and transparent because we want you to invest in pieces that will be passed down with love, not tossed out.
We’re here until October 2026 (and returning again in May 2027), so now is the perfect time to breathe new life into your Hans Wegner Wishbone, Niels Møller, or that cherished family chair.💫

✨ Hey Calgary friends! ✨

Caning Canada has set up shop in our beautiful city, and we’re warmly welcoming July bookings for our hand-woven Danish cord projects!

There’s still plenty of time to rescue that treasured family heirloom or that well-loved dining set that holds so many memories around the table.

Those pieces aren’t just furniture — they’re part of your family story.
In a world full of fast furniture and technology, there’s something truly special about things made slowly, carefully, and by hand. We take great pride in restoring the beauty and strength of quality vintage chairs so they can continue creating memories for generations to come.

And the best part? Our prices are fair and honest — giving your cherished pieces a thoughtful restoration is often far more affordable (and meaningful) than replacing them with something that won’t last.

Whether it’s a Hans Wegner Dining Chair, a Niels Møller classic, or your grandmother’s favourite chair, our expert Danish cord weaving will bring it back to life with care and craftsmanship.

📍 Now in Calgary until October 2026 (returning May 2027)

• Perfect for Wegner, Møller, Hovmand-Olsen, Volther, and upholstery-to-cord conversions

“Caning Canada did a great job of re-cording our heirloom mid-century Danish chairs. The ability to so expertly restore this type of furniture is an increasingly hard-to-find skill set. Thanks!”

At Caning Canada our handwoven cane involves a meticulous seven-step process to create breathable, elegant surfaces on antique furniture.

Handwoven is when individual strands of cane are woven through drilled holes in a chair frame.

“A man who works with his hands is a labourer; a man who works with his hands and his brain is a craftsman; but a man who works with his hands and his brain and his heart is an artist” — Louis Nizer.

Let Caning Canada be your artist as we spend the summer in Calgary and the winter just outside of Vancouver in Fort Langley.

Extend the life of your cane and rattan furniture with these tips:

• Cleaning: Use wood soap (e.g., Murphy’s Oil Soap) with a soft cloth. Allow two days to dry.

• Oiling: Apply lemon or teak oil to the porous underside once or twice yearly. Wipe off excess after 15 minutes.

• Avoid Damage: Keep the cane away from heat vents, direct sunlight, or dry rooms to prevent brittleness.

• Tighten Sagging: Wet the underside with a warm, damp towel and let it dry for two days to restore tension.

• Usage: Avoid standing on cane chairs; ensure weight is evenly distributed to prevent sagging or breaking.

• If your cane is sagging or breaking, contact us for expert cane repair services.

Caning Canada & Vintage Chair Canada

Caning Canada is back in Calgary this May, and we’re now booking weaving projects! 🌿✨
Imagine giving Mom a truly meaningful Mother’s Day gift this year—one that carries stories, memories, and love through generations. That old family heirloom chair your grandma sat in, or the dining set that’s hosted countless holiday dinners… those pieces hold so much more than just wood and weave. They hold your family’s history.
In a world full of fast furniture that falls apart quickly and technology that moves at lightning speed, there’s something so special about things made (and restored) by hand. Each careful weave is done with patience, skill, and real care—bringing new life to quality vintage pieces that were built to last.
And the best part? Restoring your beautiful chairs with Danish cord, cane, rattan, seagrass, or fibre rush is often more affordable than you think—especially when you compare it to replacing them with something flimsy and soulless. You get heirloom quality that looks stunning in your home, giving you that quiet pride every time you walk in and see your space looking warm, inviting, and put-together.
We’ve got a video showcasing some of our favorite restored pieces—watch it to see the magic! (Swipe up or check stories for the link!)
Help us keep these woven treasures out of landfills and give them a second (or third!) life. Spots for our summer weaving season are filling up fast—don’t wait!

Caning Canada is coming back to Calgary! 🌟 We’re now booking weaving projects for May until the end of October.

That old chair from Grandma’s house? The one where everyone gathered for stories and laughter? Or the dining set that’s hosted holiday dinners for decades?

These pieces hold so much more than wood and weave—they carry memories, love, and family history. 💕

In a world full of flashy new tech and “fast furniture” that barely lasts a few years, there’s something truly special about things made to endure generations. Restoring your vintage treasures with handwoven Danish cord, cane, rattan, seagrass, or fibre rush isn’t just repair—it’s an investment in quality that costs far less in the long run than replacing with cheap alternatives.

Fair prices, lasting results, and that proud feeling when your home looks warm, inviting, and full of character. 🪑✨

Nothing compares to the beauty of handmade craftsmanship. Each weave is done with care, bringing new life to pieces that deserve to stay in your home, not a landfill.

If you (or someone you know) has a chair, rocker, magazine shelf, or set waiting for a refresh, don’t wait—spots are limited!

Head to caningcanada.com to book your project today and keep those woven treasures alive for years to come. 💛

🌿 That old Hans Olsen Swing Rocking chair in the corner? The one that’s held generations of family stories—late-night talks, cozy reads, kids’ giggles, and quiet moments of reflection? It’s more than furniture. It’s a piece of your heart and history. 💕

In a world racing with fast tech and throwaway trends, there are still things made by hand that last lifetimes. Vintage woven chairs, crafted with care, deserve to stay that way—not end up in landfills.

At Caning Canada, we specialize in bringing these treasures back to life with Danish cord, cane, rattan, seagrass, and fibre rush weaving. Fair prices mean you invest in quality that outlives fast furniture every time. Restoring what you love feels good—and it shows in a home that feels truly personal and proud. 🏡✨

Right now we’re in Fort Langley, taking appointments until mid-March before heading to Calgary for the summer. We’re booking one final Weaving Truck meet on Vancouver Island—a combined Victoria + Nanaimo stop March 5th (returning March 19th). Details coming soon!

There’s still a little room on the truck and in our schedule for a few more special projects this season. Don’t wait—let us save your woven treasure before it’s too late! The Weaving Truck is almost fully booked. 🌟

P.S. Check out this beauty: the iconic Hans Olsen Swing Rocking Chair (1956)—a true mid-century gem with its hand-woven cane backrest that gives it such lightness and elegance. If yours needs love (especially that removable backrest), we can restore it beautifully—even if you mail it to us!

Ready to give your heirloom a new chapter? Message us or head to caningcanada.com to book or learn more. Let’s keep the handmade alive, one weave at a time. 🪑❤️
