TOM is looking for a graphic designer to join our small but mighty creative team!
We’re looking for junior to mid-level designers, and open to a flexible work setup (part or full-time, or project-based freelance). Experience in Layout Design, Production, Data Visualization, Branding, and UI/UX is preferred, but we value curiosity, attitude, and creative talent above all else. The ideal candidate is self-driven, is detail-oriented, and relishes the idea of working across a wide array of design disciplines for an international client base, from tiny startups looking to change the world, to established Fortune 500 corporations.
A candidate based in Calgary is preferred, but we are open to remote or non-traditional work solutions.
Interested candidates should contact us with your portfolio, resume, compensations needs, and ideal work situation.

10 years ago this month, I.D. magazine occupied newsstands for the very last time. The design-industry staple was published for 56 years, and counted luminaries like Alvin Lustig, George Nelson, Ladislav Sutnar, Bruce Mau, Michael Bierut, Paola Antonelli, Steven Heller, and Andy Warhol among its staff and contributors.
It also happened to be our ’s first real job (sorry Little Caesars, you don’t count) and still one of his favorites. During that time, it had a tiny, but ferociously dedicated, staff that included and fantastic contributors like and Mark Weiss.
Below are a few sample images from our time there. Photos by Mark Weiss.

In late 2013, we began a collaboration with our friend on Infographics for a new book he was working on for , a truly comprehensive atlas that would encapsulate 200 years of design history. 6 years later…the Atlas of Furniture Design is in. In this post we share a sampling of the infographics and icons that TOM contributed on.

In late 2013, friend and former colleague at I.D. magazine Kobi Benezri wrote that he was starting a new book-design project for Swiss furniture-company Vitra, that would encapsulate 200 years of furniture design. He asked our studio to help with designing Infographics.
6 years later…the Atlas of Furniture Design is in! While we can’t even imagine the Herculean task that Kobi, Nina, Jochen, and the rest of the Vitra Design Museum team had to go through, we do know that for us this was the single longest project WE ever collaborated on. A half-decade of starts and stops...fast and furious weeks of design work, followed by months of silence while the editorial team in Europe wrestled with fact-checking and the colossal weight of information they were buried under. It’s a project that every designer at TOM in that time-frame has touched in some way.
We will share a few of our contributions to this book over the coming days. And in the meantime, we offer our congratulations to , , and , and continue to ogle the Atlas on our shelves.
