Vintage Refined

It’s been a LONG time since I’ve posted on social media… and, if I’m being completely honest, it’s also been a long time since I’ve refinished a piece.

Sadly, the implementation of tariffs and the removal of Section 321 by the U.S. government absolutely crippled my small business.
Big sigh…. 😔😔

But, as they say, sometimes life has a funny way of slowing us down for a reason. The silver lining? It gave me time to focus on me — to enjoy the outdoors, breathe a little deeper, and embrace a much calmer pace of life. 🌿☀️

And then came a little reminder that the passion and support are still there… 🥰

I was incredibly fortunate to have a local buyer purchase not one, but TWO of the pieces I currently had available. Thank you so much, Keira, for supporting my small business 👩🏻‍🎨🎨🛠️ It truly means more than you know!

And just when I thought that was pretty awesome… I’m currently working with someone who is exhausting EVERY possible avenue to try and purchase another one of my available pieces.

The catch?

They’re in AUSTRALIA! 🇦🇺

How AWESOME is that⁉️⁉️

So, I guess I’m choosing to look for the good, celebrate the little wins, and remind myself that the bad too shall pass. Maybe this isn’t the end of the story… maybe it’s just a different chapter. ✨

The intention with this GORGEOUS antique table was never to be listed for sale. I actually purchased this table for our family cottage, but when the vision for the kitchen went in a different direction, sadly, there was no longer any need for a table 😕

So, here she is in all her magnificent glory 💫💫

Completely stripped back down to raw wood and then lightly re-stained and sealed.

And what about those legs‼️ Not to mention all the carved detailing - she’s spectacular, AND one-of-a-kind 🤩

This piece had me the moment I saw it… and the person I purchased it from told me that it was his great-grandmothers. I hope she would approve 👵🏻

The sides of this table slide out adding an additional 2’ to the length of the table, AND, she’s currently available in my Esty shop 🛒🛍️

This cedar lined Chesley Chair Company chest (later known as Heirloom of Canada Inc.) is a great example of having good bones, it just required an updated transformation and a little love 👩🏻‍🎨🎨🛠️❤️

Two incredibly well adhered layers of veneer and plywood were removed from the top exposing a beautiful solid wood surface underneath 😍 Intentional gouges and hits with the backend of a hammer were applied giving this piece a timeworn, having stood the test of time aesthetic. A light paint wash was then applied.

The body was stripped and refinished using one of Country Chic Paint’s new limited edition colours, Hearthwood. The outdated base was removed and wooden furniture legs were added, then paint washed to coordinate with the top. Decorative fluting was applied to the front for visual interest and a little modern twist.

The cedar lined interior was rejuvenated using lemon scented furniture oil.

It has been some time since I’ve posted but that doesn’t mean I wasn’t working on any projects 👩🏻‍🎨🎨🛠️❤️‼️

Country Chic Paint has recently revealed their newest limited edition colours 🎨 and this beautiful Middlesex Furniture Co. tallboy was refinished using one of them: Daydreamer 🩵

The interior of all drawers were fully lined in a wallpaper consisting of intricate floral motifs and birds, and the original Hepplewhite hardware was soaked and scrubbed back to a shiny brass finish 😍
