As you can see, we did a little more in here than {just} paint and new doors, but we tried both options and here are my thoughts: Paint 🎨 (Pros) This is very affordable and a great way to get a new look on a tight budget. If you do the right prep and use a good quality urethane paint, you can get beautiful, long lasting results. (Cons) You’ll still have the same door profile shape and some of the oak grain will show through, so they’ll always look like painted oak. 👉🏻 Note: If you take the time to fill the oak grain before painting, you’ll get a smoother, more professional finish Refacing 🚪 (Pros) Updating the door profile goes a long way in making the kitchen feel more modern. Thermofoil or professionally sprayed doors will always look a little more high end than painted doors. Easy to install if you’re not changing the overlay. (Cons) Refacing will cost more than painting, but much less than all new cabinets.
