An old piece of wood was transformed to a country chic shelf using my favorite distressing technique. Sitting pretty in my bathroom, a Tilly Bay distressed shelf!

Because it's always fun!

I went Tim Burton-esque on this piece! A little outside my comfort zone, with the straight lines and no distressing – it was an experiment and certainly an improvement on the original bland wood. Would you say?

Finding virgin wood is a real treat for refurbishes!! A bare wood butcher’s block is the perfect canvas for adding a bit of color and country-style to my kitchen!

Very little satisfies me more than gorgeous mirrors! Aren’t these just the fairest of them all?

Furniture certainly isn’t made the way it used to be! This chair is a testament to the old school quality seen in furniture made in the 30′s and 40′s. This chair needed no repair! Just a touch of Tilly Bay’s classic distressing! It was such a pleasure to work on this chair, with it’s solid oak wood I could sand to my heart’s content! With a wide seat and arm rests this chair is inviting and attractive.

I am excited to present you with my chalkboard! I was enamored with the idea of turning old frames into chalkboards while I was planning my wedding. A cute and country style method of communicating the menu and drink list - very important items!

After falling desperately in love with the dark walnut stain and turquoise pairing I couldn’t get enough of the two together! So I applied this dynamic duo to a basic wood bench. My husband oh-so kindly sanded the entire bench down (a big job!) and I painted the bottom turquoise (a color I had to mix a few times before getting it right) and stained the top a dark walnut brown. I then distressed the bottom with #240 sandpaper and using a cloth wiped the walnut stain over the distressed turquoise. And there you have it!

This drop-leaf table belonged to my husband’s grandmother, Tilly Black. It was love at first sight. The wood is durable and strong and withheld hours (and hours!) of sanding. As I applied layers of light blue and off-white paint the table just got better and better!

Tilly Bay welcomes its newest addition, a refurbished sewing table! Sewing tables are renowned in the refurbishing world because once the sewing machine is removed from the table, tables are often discarded and left for trash. Shameful! These tables are made from sturdy and strong wood – the stuff us refurbishers love!! Luckily this one had its flap in-tact and I was able to apply my favorite white/blue distressing technique! It’s a no-fail technique and one that I am always sure to love! This table even has a secret drawer!! It doesn’t get any better! And check out the scalloped detailing!! *sigh*
