YUKON TO HOST 2026 WORLD BROOMBALL
CHAMPIONSHIPS
JANUARY 28, 2026
WHITEHORSE (KWANLIN), YUKON CANADA – Registration is now open for teams from across the globe to compete in the 2026 International Federation of Broomball Associations (IFBA) World Championships, presented by Kilrich Building Centres.
The Yukon Broomball Association (YBA) secured the bid to host the international event in Whitehorse, Yukon. With support from Sport Yukon and the Make it Happen Program, the YBA Organizing Committee is working alongside local partners and sponsors to share travel, accommodation, and transportation information for an estimated 700 visiting players.
The week-long event in Canada’s capital North of 60 will welcome as many as 35 teams to compete across four divisions: mixed, men’s, women’s, and men’s masters. Games will take place in two arenas from November 3 to 7, 2026.
The international tournament will include opening ceremonies, see it-try it events for youth and the public, as well as a closing
celebration featuring true Yukon hospitality.
“The IFBA is always looking for an exciting and unforgettable location for our world broomball championships and Whitehorse definitely fits that description,” says IFBA President Marc Desparois.
“Working with the YBA and Yukon’s organizing committee has
been a great start to what we know will be a great international tournament, for a great sport.”

“Hosting the World Broomball Championships has been a longtime goal for the YBA,” says Organizing Committee Member Diane Stewart. “Hosting an event of this size is definitely a lot of work but we are honoured to bring more attention to this awesome sport and this amazing territory.”
Both the YBA Organizing Committee and the IFBA would like to thank the volunteers and sponsors already working to make this a memorable event including Air North – Yukon’s Airline, Yukon Brewing, the Sternwheeler, Quality Inn, Northern Vision Development, Yukon Lotteries, Ozzall Construction, Tourism Cooperative Marketing Fund, and presenting sponsor Kilrich Building Centres.
They would also like to offer a big shäw níthän to the Kwanlin Dün First Nation and Ta’an Kwäch’än Council for welcoming all international teams to play on their beautiful territories.

To all interested in attending the 2026 IFBA World Broomball Championships to be held in Whitehorse, Yukon, Canada
Competition - November 3rd to 7th 2026
There will be a Governors meeting pre competition and team registration final details and any updates will be communicated closer to the event.
The attached information is detailed and comprehensive, easy to make and organise all plans and travel.
Please note that at this time the following hotel is NOT available for bookings: Town and Mountain Motel. as it becomes available I will advise all of this.
All teams MUST book and use the sponsors hotels as per the event policies. This will be very closely monitored as it has been in the past.
Note too the special airfare discounts from the partner airline and we encourage all to make use of this significant support to the event.

Less than eleven months to go until the 2026 IFBA World Broomball Championships in Whitehorse, Yukon.
Recently a team from the IFBA traveled to Whitehorse and together with the host organisation went through the all important site inspection documentation.
With this milestone now completed, together we can commence serious promotion of the event.
We will be posting information as it comes to hand after the festive break.
This next event is shaping to be a wonderful event, full of unique experiences in a stunning location that will offer not only the best broomball on the planet but also many opportunities for family, friends and those interested in this beautiful part of the world.
Now is the time to over the festive season to enjoy that special company of friends and family and invite them along on the journey north to Whitehorse and the Yukon.

IFBA World Broomball Championships 2026
The IFBA and 2026 host organisation The Yukon Broomball Association announce that the dates for the next IFBA World Broomball Championships will be November 2nd - 7th 2026
The Host is working now to secure the event as being culturally and location wise a unique event in a stunning location with much to offer the players/teams/support staff, friends and family.
Details are being worked through to include all sponsor hotels which teams are to support, local transport and significantly special arrangements with sponsor airline Air North, Yukon's Airline that has access to the region.
Recently Kirk Gilbert, President of The Yukon Broomball Association released the following press release.

The IFBA Executive has been working hard to put in place the necessary paperwork and details for the next IFBA World Broomball Championships over the past months since we were all in Megeve, France with the next host.
The IFBA Board can now announce that the host for the 2026 IFBA World Broomball Championships has signed the contract . This is a significant step in the process and we await information from the host on many of the finer details as well as on the host city of Whitehorse.
Next step will be a site inspection and meeting in Whitehorse with the host.
The IFBA Board and the Host committee are excited to now have in place the event which will be unique in a stunning location in the northern reached of Canada.
As information comes to hand we will send it to all IFBA member associations and post relevant information on the social pages. This will include the final dates, event support hotel accommodation, local transportation, arenas we are using etc etc.
