Step 2: double check layout and then mortise the stringers to accept your treads and risers. Oh and mill your treads. And please test fit with with some milled off cuts to make sure everything fits like it should.
Math never lies, but user error sure can make make a fool out of ya!

Been a bit since I've got to build a good old housed stringer set of stairs! A fun break before a whole pile of framing starts up!

From fence post hole digging to diving down a rabbit hole...

Next, new door. But pretty happy with how this turned out. Especially considering the old was a washed out aluminum awning always provides the best.

Little old garage stabilization project. Remove sag from the rear "beam", let in bracing on the sidewalls to stabilize racking, rafter ties to help with snow load and hurricane ties for uplift. Not a fancy arch or kitchen but I enjoy this more often anyways.

Instagram loves to "finished product", check out my sweet new festool, custom made this and that. Reality is good people need work done. The floor was out of level 5", the window was moved, framing was fixed, new door installed and ceiling drywalled. It's not glamor work, but it's work hugely appreciated by a repeat client that wanted a comfortable space.
This is Carpentry. This is work to be proud of. This is often what I love. Don't get me wrong, I love the custom, the crazy, the head scratcher. But at the end of the day, good clients and happy clients are what matters.
Plus this is my limit to how much drywall I will mud haha

Crocs and birch. The best part of being a carpenter is the variety in the work.
120 sq ft of workspace has framing, window and door install, flooring, drywall... and all within walking distance of home.

This weather makes me miss summer. Or straight up real winter. For all those younger guys, remember to have a life outside of work. Why "grind" 365 days a year if you can't slow down and enjoy life? Take care of your mind body and spirit.

2021 left a lot to be desired. Might as well start 2022 on a good note and play outside!
I've made some promises to myself and set myself up for challenges and as best I can for success.
Happy new years!

What was once a hole in the ground and piles of lumber and foam is now taking shape as a house and home.
