It is an honour to be part of such meaningful work, to be a part of a team so dedicated to our community and to be able to share the message of recovery to those who need to hear it.
We are proud to introduce Brittany Stockley as a Peer Mentor and Advisory Board Member with Roots of Resilience. We are incredibly grateful and excited to have Brittany as part of the Roots of Resilience team.
Brittany is a mother of three, photographer, disability advocate, and Board Member with Roots of Resilience. As a person in long-term recovery, she is passionate about helping individuals and families navigate adversity with hope, connection, and resilience.
Her understanding of resilience began early in life when she entered foster care after her mother became paralyzed by a rare genetic neurological condition. Growing up through family separation, loss, and uncertainty shaped her belief in the importance of community, connection, and supportive services for children and families facing difficult circumstances.
Today, with over a decade in recovery, Brittany brings both lived experience and compassion to her role with Roots of Resilience. Her journey through addiction, recovery, chronic illness, disability, and advocacy has strengthened her commitment to helping others overcome barriers and build meaningful lives. She believes that healing happens when people are met with understanding, opportunity, and a community that refuses to give up on them.
Brittany is passionate about raising awareness of recovery, accessibility, and the challenges faced by individuals and families navigating complex systems of care.
Today, Brittany’s greatest joy comes from the life she has built in recovery. She enjoys spending time with her fiancé and three children, growing her photography business, and finding purpose in both community connection and helping others discover hope in their own journeys.
“My story began with adversity, but it did not end there. Recovery, resilience, and community taught me that our circumstances do not define our future. No matter where someone starts, hope and transformation are always possible.” - Brittany Stockley ❤️
We are so grateful for her voice, lived experience, and dedication to supporting others on their journey toward healing and hope.

Pretty in pink and ready to take on the world. 💕🎓
There is something so special about capturing these milestone moments and all the excitement that comes with them. This sweet graduate absolutely rocked her session!
I still have a few graduate portfolio sessions available. DM to inquire and let’s celebrate your graduate with some beautiful memories. ✨

My very first newborn session… and it was twins. 🥹💕
As a twin mom, I know just how much love, hope, and wonder is wrapped up in these early days. Being trusted to capture this beautiful family’s first moments together is something I’ll carry with me for a long time.

Six years ago today, I created this page under the name Heartwood & Home Studio.
At the time, I was rebuilding my life after addiction and working toward becoming a carpenter. I had big goals, endless determination, and a passion for creating. I loved transforming spaces, building with my hands, and sharing that journey along the way.
What I didn’t know then was that my health was about to take a turn that would change the direction of my life.
Shortly after graduating from carpentry, I was diagnosed with a condition that finally explained years of symptoms and why life had become increasingly difficult. Suddenly, I wasn’t just learning a trade—I was learning how to adapt to a body that no longer worked the way it once had.
For a while, my focus became understanding my health, advocating for myself, and finding new ways to live a meaningful life.
But one thing never changed: my love of creating.
Whether through DIY projects, carpentry, interior design, storytelling, or photography, I’ve always been drawn to preserving beauty, emotion, and connection.
That passion eventually led me here.
Photography has given me a new set of goals, a new set of skills to learn, and a new way to create. There is something incredibly special about capturing the excitement of a graduation, the connection between family members, the joy of childhood, or the quiet moments that often pass too quickly.
Every family who trusts me to capture those memories means more than I can express, and I’m so grateful to be building this new chapter with your support.
If you’re new here, welcome. I’m Brittany, and I’m so glad you’re along for the journey. ❤️

This is not a finished… I’m still putting the finishing touches on this sweet little first birthday setup ✨
A few details are still to come that will pull this all together in the sweetest way—but I couldn't wait to share a little peek at how it’s coming together.
I’m loving the cozy, vintage inspired feel of this one already. 🧸🤎
