We may be in the business of paying people - but we never miss a chance to pay it forward, too. đ§Ą
Last year, our team clocked an incredible 2,600 volunteer hours across Canada. That's food banks, children's hospitals, furniture builds, blood donations, puppy baths, and a Grey Cup festival â plus way, way more - all in one year.
2026 Paying it Forward hours are well underway, we canât wait to see what our final tally looks like!

Picking a payroll system for your small business? There's more to it than you'd think (but it doesnât have to be daunting, we promise)!
Manual spreadsheets, basic software, a payroll provider, managed payroll services â there are multiple options, and each one comes with a different cost, time commitment, and compliance risk.
What determines the right one for you? It all depends on how your business is built.
We broke down all four options so you can figure out which one actually fits your needs (without having to panic-breathe into a paper bag).

United Way campaign season is just around the corner - and we can't think of a better way to get ready than by sharing Laura's story. đ§Ą
Last autumn, our Small Business Service Support Lead spent 14 weeks as a United Way Winnipeg Sponsored Campaign Associate: helping coordinate workplace events, connecting community organizations, and showing up every single day for her city.
(Spoiler: she packed a lot of donation boxes in her car - and she'd do it all again, in a heartbeat!)
Our new United Way campaign kicks off in September, and we're proud to be part of this community effort year after year.

Happy National Nonprofit Day!
Today we're thinking about the organizations doing critical work, often with very little - and one in particular we've had the privilege of supporting.
While She Is True is a Canadian not-for-profit teaching girls aged 8â15 to code, free of charge. Founded by Ebun Makinde, it now reaches students across Canada with a volunteer team of 20+!
Earlier this year, we were honoured to donate 30 refurbished laptops to whileshe_istrue to help ensure every student in the room has the same tools to move forward in their coding journey.

Adulting is hard, as the kids say. Canadian payroll adulting? Even harder.
Bank holidays, stat days, daylight saving time, CRA deadlinesâŚmissing one can mean a late paycheque, and nobody wants *that* conversation with their team.
Good news: we've done the date-hunting for you. Our free Important Dates Calendar (IDC, if you will) has all the key payroll dates, federal and provincial holidays, and bank closures for the year, so you can plan ahead instead of scrambling last minute.
Download it for free - your future self will thank you! đ

Running a franchise means you're pulled in ten directions, often before youâve even finished your morning coffee.
What would make it all easier?
â
Payroll for multiple locations.

Scheduling across teams.
â
Tracking time off.

Staying on top of overtime rules that vary by province.
We can bring it all under one roof - payroll, time management, HR, and absence management â everything sharing a single database so your information flows seamlessly between locations.
And when the rules change? Youâre kept in the loop and up to date so you're never caught off guard â and that's what running a franchise should feel like.
