Feel the Burr Rustic Wood Products

Probably our most ambitious project yet....

Picked up this vintage jockey scales, manufactured by the Gravity Scale Company in Swansea, at auction some time ago. The scales were in a very poor state, they were literally falling to pieces, collapsing under their own weight. The 1st photo is when we got them.

The scales were completely dismantled and every piece thoroughly cleaned and repaired where required. All the wooden components have been treated to provide much needed cleaning and nourishment. A wax has been applied to provide protection and shine. All the metal components have had surface rust removed and been thoroughly polished.

To maintain the age and obvious use of the scales we have tried to perform a sympathetic restoration.

The scales are fully functional but we obviously can’t guarantee their accuracy.

Please be aware this item is very heavy, we estimate well in excess of 50kg.

We are selling this piece via eBay and not our usual Etsy shop. This item is collection only. We are happy to engage with a courier that is organised by the buyer.

Vintage school bench with folding legs just added to our online shop for £125 (including free delivery up to 25 miles from Ammanford). This bench came to us very filthy with a broken leg. It has been fully repaired and refinished.

2 new pieces gone on sale today:

The first piece is a large heavy solid wood pirate chest / steamer trunk style blanket box with solid metal handles and refinished in reclaimed burlap coffee sacks.

The second piece came to us without any real defined purpose but seemed appropriate to convert into a contemporary drinks/cocktail cabinet.

1960s Vintage Liden Bedside Cabinet, before & after!

The side, door panels and drawer base have been decoupaged with Holden Decor Teal Glitter Butterfly Damask wallpaper providing a contrast to the frame which has been finished with Briwax Jacobean wax polish highlighting the aged distressed wood.

Before and after.

A refinished vintage solid wood (believed to be teak) buffet sideboard with tea chest back panels and new reclaimed oak top.

The frame has been hand painted in Annie Sloan Athenian Black chalk paint and finished with a clear wax.

The cupboard doors and drawer fronts have been sanded smooth and finished with several layers of Briwax Dark Oak wax polish. The existing brass k***s have been sympathetically polished and the drawers lined with Graham & Brown Gloriana Copper Wallpaper.

The top has been sanded and finished with several coats of Dark Oak Wax Polish. The body has been hand painted in Annie Sloan Aubusson Blue and Rodmell chalk paints and finished with clear wax.

Reupholstered with a beautiful soft velvet fabric printed with a distressed aged looking damask design.
The frame has been hand painted in Annie Sloan Rodmell chalk paint destressed and finished with white and clear wax, complementing the fabric.
