Thinking you need to start again every season is why your home never feels lived in and personalised to you.

Here are 5 ways you can change how your home feels without replacing all your furniture or completely redecorating:

1. Introduce a richer colour: Bring in plum, olive, caramel and chocolate through smaller details such as side tables, or accessories.

2. Add tactile layers: swap lighter summer textures for velvet, faux fur, chunky weaves and soft rugs.

3. Rethink the lighting: Either create small pods of warm light with table lamps, floor lamps and wall lights, or upgrade your pendant light.

4. Ground the room with a rug: A rug adds warmth underfoot while helping to define and anchor the space. Choose a deeper tone or tactile finish to make the room feel more autumnal.
