🔎 BUT WAIT… WHAT DID WE FIND?

20 young environmental champions, today's litter pick turned into a fascinating history lesson, with pupils uncovering old packaging that had been hiding in the environment for decades! ✈️ A vintage fighter planes promotional packet! One of today's most exciting discoveries, showing how packaging can tell stories about the past. 🍫 A Maltesers promotional wrapper featuring a 1983 date! That's a date from 43 years ago! Imagine something connected to a promotion from the year 1983 still being discovered by school children in 2026! 🍬 Vintage Smiths snack packaging and other old sweet and crisp wrappers gave pupils the opportunity to become litter detectives, exploring how familiar brands, packaging designs and promotions have changed over the years. Some of these finds are potentially older than the children's parents! 💭 THE BIG QUESTION… If packaging from decades ago can still be found in our environment today, what will happen to the litter we drop in 2026? That's exactly why our Little Litter Warriors workshops matter. We're not simply collecting rubbish. We're helping children understand the consequences of littering, discover the history behind their finds and recognise the power they have to protect their planet. 💚 A HUGE thank you to the pupils and staff at St. James’ C of E Primary School - West Malvern for their enthusiasm, curiosity and determination today. Your passion for looking after your school and local community was wonderful to see! Because you're never too young to make a difference!

Think a few pupils will be joining Adopt-a-Street Malvern team.

Little hands. Big impact. A discovery from decades ago! 🌍

During today’s Little Litter Warriors workshop at St James’ C of E Primary School, West Malvern, a pupil uncovered a remarkable find: a Smiths “Fighter Planes” snack packet, believed to date from the 1970s — potentially around 50 years old!

A powerful reminder that a snack eaten in minutes can leave packaging behind for generations.

Across two classes, 20 pupils collected an estimated 420 pieces of litter from their school grounds and nearby community. Along the way, a discarded packet became a chance to explore history and why our everyday choices matter.

Small actions, curious minds and a cleaner community. 💚

🪣 SMALL HANDS. HUGE DIFFERENCE! 🌍💚

Hanbury C.E. First School’s Little Litter Warriors collected an incredible estimated 1,380 pieces of litter!

From pre-school to Years 3 & 4, every class played its part:

🌱 Pre-school: approximately 50 pieces
🌱 Reception: approximately 100 pieces
🌱 Year 1: 225 pieces
🌱 Year 2: 375 pieces
🌱 Years 3 & 4: 630 pieces!

And those orange buckets held quite a collection wrappers, cans, plant pots, a towel and even a plastic pipe! 🕵️‍♀️

Our litter detectives uncovered packaging dated 2022, 2020, 2018 and a can from 2010 older than the children who found it! A powerful reminder that litter doesn’t simply disappear when we walk away.

Thank you, Hanbury pupils and staff, for helping care for your surroundings. Every piece collected is one less left behind and every child can make a difference. 💚

LITTLE HANDS, BIG HAUL… AND SOME VERY OLD LITTER!

2,868 pieces of litter collected! What a brilliant team effort from Broadheath C.E. Primary School during our Little Litter Warriors visit today.

From Kestrel and Kingfisher to Dove, Owl and Eagle, every class helped make a difference one bucket, one wrapper and one discovery at a time.

And some finds were a real blast from the past! A Corona Cherryade can and Walkers Snaps packet are believed to date from the 1980s around 40 years ago. Imagine finding somebody’s snack wrapper from before your parents were born! A likely early-2000s Nik Naks packet even carried the message “Bin the Bag”… somebody clearly missed that bit! The dates are crazy, but the lesson is clear a snack lasts minutes its packaging can stick around for years.

Well done, Braodheath pupils. Every piece you picked up is one less left in nature and that’s something to feel proud of! 💚

READY SALTED… READY FOR RETIREMENT!

Our Little Litter Warriors litter pick turned up a blast from snack time past, a Hunters Ready Salted crisp packet, possibly dating from the 1980s! 😲

That makes it around 40 years old. We can’t confirm its exact age because the best-before date is too faded, but this packet certainly has a story to tell!

The crisps are long gone, yet the wrapper is still recognisable. A powerful discovery to help children see why putting rubbish in the right place matters.

Who remembers Hunters crisps? Tell us and share this find to get people talking about litter! 👇

🍂 NEW SCHOOL YEAR. NEW HABITS. BIG DIFFERENCE!

September’s Little Litter Warriors workshops help start the academic year with caring for our planet firmly on the timetable!

What a start our young warriors have made! Together we’re making every action count.

🌱 Grimley & Holt Primary School
Year 6 collected over 700 pieces in just one hour! Our Eco-Schools launch workshop explored plastic pollution, food waste, energy and biodiversity, helping pupils turn ideas into action.

💚 Broadway CE Primary School
Such a lovely welcome at our Our Planet assembly! Hearing that pupils had adopted their streets after last year’s visit made my day. School conversations had travelled home, and the children were still making a difference!

🌍 Elmley Castle First School
Around 90 pupils joined in for World Clean Up Day, caring for their school and community. Bags of enthusiasm and fewer hiding places for litter! 😂

🐦 Abberley Primary School
Wrens collected 157 pieces, Skylarks 474, Kestrels 627 and Merlins 411 — an amazing 1,669 pieces! Their passion and enthusiasm shone through. You should all feel very proud!

👏 More brilliant results
Two workshops collected 843 and 145 pieces — 988 altogether! Older packaging sparked conversations about how long rubbish stays in our environment.

🥁 That’s so many pieces of litter removed across the collections counted so far this term! Every piece is one less left in our communities.

A school litter pick can become a regular routine. An assembly conversation can inspire a new habits at home helping our Adopt a Street initiative grow. That’s how children’s enthusiasm creates lasting change.

This term also included meeting West Midlands and national Keep Britain Tidy Litter Heroes Ambassadors in Birmingham to share ideas for our communities.

📣 Has your child brought home an idea from our visit? Tell us what they’ve inspired you to do!

🌍💚 988 PIECES OF LITTER, TWO WORKSHOPS & A TRIP BACK IN TIME!

Castlemorton CE Primary School, you were brilliant! 👏

Our Little Litter Warriors recent visit began with an Our Planet assembly, exploring environmental challenges and how small actions can make a big difference.

Then the pupils got stuck in:

🪣 Workshop 1: 843 pieces collected
🪣 Workshop 2: 145 pieces collected
🏆 Total: 988 pieces of litter removed!

Among the rubbish, they discovered some fascinating history, including a Tudor Crisps packet from a brand discontinued in 2003 and another dated 2014.

Some litter may have been older than the children who found it and possibly some of their teachers! 😂

Every small action matters and these enthusiastic pupils showed that caring for the wildlife and community environment comes first.

A huge thank you to the pupils and staff at Castlemorton CE Primary School!

🌱 Little hands. Big actions. A cleaner future.

🧡 ABBERLEY, YOU’VE BEEN TANGOed!!

1,669 pieces of litter altogether collected!

An old Tango can, buckets of rubbish and a school full of children making a difference! What a visit to Abberley CE Primary School with Little Litter Warriors!

Across two days, the assembly and litter workshops took learning into action, with pupils from Reception to Year 6 helping to care for their school grounds and local community. 💚

Our unusual find? This old Tango can! Definitely a different kind of orange squash at school! 😂🥤 Behind the nostalgia is a serious message: dropped litter doesn’t simply disappear when we walk away. 40 years after been littered our small litter hero found it in a bush and rescued it from the environment.

Every bucket in the pictures holds rubbish that is now out of the environment. Every pupil taking part has helped show what we can achieve when we care enough to act and that many hands do make a difference.

That’s what Little Litter Warriors is all about helping children discover that they can make a difference, right where they live and love where they live too.

A huge thank you to the pupils and staff at Abberley for being part of it. Small hands, big impact… and some very busy litter pickers!

Recognise that Tango can? Tell us in the comments and give these young litter warriors a little encouragement on their litter discovery.

Many pupils are inspired to adopt their street and take their families out litter picking to have some educational fun. One thing I will add is that Abberley village is very clean in comparison to many rural villages I litter pick with schools. this was lovely to see.

A CRISPY BLAST FROM THE PAST!
Tudor Crisps - old-fashioned packaging.
This packets has been hiding in the environment?

Does anyone recognise this old packets or remember buying them? Help our Little Litter Warriors solve the mystery!

FACT: Tudor Crisps was discontinued in 2003, so a genuine original Tudor packet would be at least 23 years old.
