Join us as we open the studio for Scotland's Premier Arts & Crafts Event. 111 studios open this year across Dumfries & Galloway. We are 106 and 107. Easy found from Central Belt or Cumbria via the A7. Make sure to enjoy some of the rest this wonderful region has to offer - there's so much to see and do.

Over 100 talented artists and craftists are involved in this year's Open Studios in Dumfries & Galloway over the late May bank holiday (23-25th).

We are proud to award the 500th @bespokeguildmark to @daniellaceydesignfurniture, recognising his exceptional craftsmanship and dedication to excellence. This milestone highlights the importance of the Bespoke Guild Mark in celebrating the finest bespoke furniture makers in Britain, ensuring their work is acknowledged for its quality, innovation, and artistry. Daniel Lacey’s award-winning piece is a pedestal-like dining table, inspired by the details of his existing Blagr chair design and crafted from locally sourced white ash. The tabletop features twelve alternating veneer panels, incorporating the end grain from through-tenoned legs or ribs, creating a striking visual effect. The six-ribbed structure beneath the table serves both an aesthetic and functional purpose, filling the spaces between the legs as specified in the client’s brief while allowing ample room for seating and movement. The wider veneer panels are carefully sawn from the top of the chair seats and book-matched, visually linking the table to its accompanying chairs. A meticulously considered three-ply construction forms the sculpted chair seats, with the tapered cross-section of the legs carried through both chairs and table, creating a cohesive and harmonious design. Daniel Lacey is committed to excellence and sustainability, working predominantly with self-harvested windblown timbers. Choosing to forgo CAD and CNC tooling, he embraces an intuitive, handcrafted approach that reflects his deep connection to both his materials and his craft. Working from his atelier by the River Esk, he creates functional works of art tailored to both contemporary and traditional settings.
