Once Again Glasgow

An stylish pair of chairs looking very much at home in the back corner of the refurbished Toro Coffee. They were upholstered in this gorgeous sage cream sourced from Independent Fabrics - Upholstery and Curtains. Its always a pleasure to work with local businesses

With a beautiful forest green wool fabric and it's elegant 1930s shape this chair is now a perfect seat for a cosy reading book. A few months ago with loose springs, torn webbing and ripped fabric it was nearly sent to the tip but luckily it came our way and now it's fit for another chapter in its long life. Please consider 2nd hand next time you shop for furniture. Its generally better made, can be restored to fit your needs and improves your carbon footprint. A win for everyone

This beautiful Victorian library chair definitely had a story to tell me as I restored it. Its last home had been in a small coft in the north of Scotland, not necessarily somewhere you would expect to find a solid mahogany carved gentlemens chair.

The new owners guess it might have found it's way to Shetland on a fishing boat in the early 1900s. From the things I found stripping it down I know the previous owner was a left handed, cat owner who supported animal chaities and spent £20.68 on fuel one day in April 1998. He also lost his much used pen knife down the side of the chair one day, which I imagine didn't please him. At some point the seat had developed a sag from a broken spring some someone enterprising stuffed some old knitwear in the hole and nailed some planks of wood to the base. Not conventional but it did the job.

After the first complete refurb in its long life, it is now on its way back to Shetland where it will hopefully spend many, many more happy years being the focus of family life in its owners living room.

This one was a challenge and a joy, but definitely a chair I wont forget in a hurry.

A lot of the chairs I've worked on recently have been variations of green or orange velvet so it was fun to go in a different direction. This beautiful old chair was sourced from Great Western Auctions and the gorgeous red wool fabric suits it to a T.
A matching footstool and rectangular cushion completes the look.

Sometimes it just takes a bit of vision to see the potential of a old piece of furniture

I love it when a plan comes together. This beautiful MCM chair was recovered for a client who was moving house and wanted a statement for his new living room (Its previous incarnation is at pic 5). He also needed some bench seating in the open plan dining area. After talking through a few ideas we decided the sage green cushions with the colorful backrest was the perfect combo.

I realised recently that my grid looked like I sell decrepit old chairs as I tend to put the 'before' photos before the 'after' pics. Here are some recent pieces in situ following their upholstery glow-ups. All of these started life in a sorry state bt are now gorgeous and cherished by their owners.
