This is a Kasriel Guide Chant. French schools used them for decades to teach children to sing. The teacher played right-handed while the left hand pumped the bellows. Two octaves. Sounds like a harmonium crossed with an accordion.

A side table with a secret.
This is a Victorian envelope card table - and the name tells you exactly what it does. The top consists of four triangular hinged leaves which swivel and unfold to reveal a green baize playing surface underneath, complete with carved counter wells for chips and a drawer for cards.

Made during the Victorian or Edwardian period, most likely in mahogany or walnut, these were the card tables of choice for a gentlemen's evening in. Beautifully engineered and still fully functional.

5no. Victorian chromolithographs from L'Illustration Horticole, a Belgian horticultural periodical published in the mid to late 1800s. At the time, chromolithography was the cutting edge of colour printing, and these plates show why - the detail and colour are extraordinary.

The subjects include the Flame of the Forest, Royal Poinciana, Pride of Burma, Angel Wings and the Poinsettia in its natural, wilder form - long before it became a Christmas cliche. Each one framed and ready to hang. Available at Antiques of Kingston, Kingston upon Thames.
