Here is a before and after of a Lines 21 Rocking Horse, he will soon be re-united with his Bow Rocker in Shrewsbury, where he will be available for sale.
Unfortunately there was no original paint to salvage, so he has gone through the full process, including new gesso.
Hand painted by myself, finished with beautiful horse hair (thank you to Jan Rusling). I’ve managed to re-use most of the leather strapping, bit & rosettes, and a big thank you to Debbi Rule for making the fitted saddle, which is just perfect.
Wish I had the space to keep him!😉

🐴He’s here!!!! Lifelong dream achieved, even my husband has admired him. May actually call him a she now. Thankyou so much Beth. I will cherish him/her. Your work is amazing. Lindsay Frost.🐴
It was so lovely to get such lovely feedback, it really does makes me happy.
Lindsay had missed out on the last dapple grey, she was really disappointed, until I convinced her that I would paint one just the same.
It was really important that every detail was just right, so we talked it through, and kept in touch most days, discussing colours of paint, hair, tack etc.
I organised the courier, and he (maybe a she now) made the short journey to the Wirral on Thursday, I think there will be some very excited grand children arriving after school, and hopefully she will now have a name.
Thanks Lindsay.x

If only if they could talk…, “I’m a shadow of my former self!” Said the Ayres to the Stevenson…,

A complete transformation for this beautiful Ayres D Type. He was originally covered in hide, which was partially removed prior to him arriving.
Several days of removing the hundreds of pins which secured the hide, followed by lots of sanding, and prepping ready for the new gesso.
He’s had some cosmetic work to his ear, as one fractured during restoration.
The owner had sent some blonde hair, but I think the grey hair really suited him.
He will soon return to his owner where he will be tacked up and ready to enjoy his new life.

Meet Hestan, he recently came to me for restoration, after some consideration, the owner decided they wanted Hestan to replicate their beloved equine companion.
Whilst his dapples had disappeared with age, we made him look a younger version of himself. The owner sent me a lock of horse hair from his tail, so I’ve encorporated this within the hair I’d matched up.
He’s now ready to return to his home, where he’ll be very much loved for many more years to come.🥰

Meet Temptation! This beautiful mare who was much loved and very much missed, was crossed with an Appaloosa. Whilst not obvious, she does have a few snow spots and a small patch of roan on her lower belly, you have to look closely to see the markings.🐴
