Calling for your help! Why not nominate Bye Bye Bed Ltd for the Kirklees Recycling Hero Award. https://orlo.uk/TJyWn
Protecting the bedding industry and environment with its revolutionary circular economy solution. Preventing what would be an inevitable huge hike in the traditional mattress recycling gate fee by us raising the value of the 70% of separated components that have historically had zero value. Our ability to use 100% of the separated components across a whole range of sustainably manufactured products is key to providing an ethical end destination for post consumer mattresses. Quite simply we have to be able to reduce the traditional mattress recycling gate fee to a price equal to or less than it costs to divert a mattress to landfill if we are to assist the National Bed Federation in its bid to divert 75% of mattresses from landfill by 2030.
More so from the 4.75 million mattresses still entering UK landfill sites and the 2million that is currently being recycled we have to be able to offer an ethical re-use for each and every component to prevent what would be an inevitable hike in mattress fraud. A continuation in the traditional and historical approach of selling components back out into industry will only compound the problems that the industry is currently trying to overcome.

"How significant is the UK's Furniture Waste Problem"
February's edition of the Furniture News
30/01/2023
February edition of the Furniture News interviewed industry experts!
Proud to be recognised as one of the very few!. We are afterall newbies to the recycling industry.
The article details the answers from each of the industry experts.
I believe our grass route, non greenwashing, non greenshifting answers get deep to the core and are the only real solution to this worldwide, historical problem. Our solution avoids the easy option to impose a tax, known and described as an EPR 'Extended Producer Responsibility' which inevitably the consumer ends up paying for. We look at the bigger picture and therefore look to reduce costs so that an ethical disposal route is the favoured choice both environmentally and financially.
Our plans for 2023 will fast track our solution.

Why is it unlkely that we will not meet the 2028 target of 75% diversion from landfll?

Why out of the 24% of mattresses sent for recycling are only 14% of materials recovered (real rate)?
