During Covid we bought a house in Forest Gate and had a baby girl. We couldn’t have picked a better location to start our family. The local area has been a total blessing and we’ve found so much support and friendship here. However it’s time to make another jump and head for the Kentish hills. The house is now on the market with which feels incredibly surreal.

It was important for and I to document our first proper home together as we’ve both put so much time into it. When we bought the place it was a project home and we set about the task instantly. Pulling half a tone of brick, wire and lino flooring out in the first week. Sanding floors, changing doors, skimming walls and painting halls. 4 years later we have the house we always knew was lurking inside the bones of the one we first walked into.

Farewell Forest Gate we will always have so many happy memories from our time here and will be back from time to time without a doubt. ❤️🥂

In Japanese culture the Torri gate is commonly found at the entrance to Shinto shrines and symbolically mark the transition from the mundane to the sacred. This console table subtly traces the outline of a Torri gate and so bends slightly in the middle. It is constructed from traditional rift-sawn timber and beautifully made by an unknown craftsman.
