We swapped the showroom for the factory floor 👀

Our team recently got hands-on with the chair-making process, getting a closer look at what actually goes into the furniture we specify every day.

Shaping components. Staining. Upholstery. The session gave the team a better understanding of how materials, construction and craftsmanship come together in the products we work with every day.

Because knowing your furniture goes way beyond knowing how it looks.

10/10 training day. Would recommend.

POV: A Brighton seaside icon enters a new era. And the furniture has to deliver 🌊

For The Salt Room’s 2026 refurb, we worked closely with the design team from the early stages, helping bring the furniture scheme together from start to finish.

Consultation ✔️
Furniture specification ✔️
Bespoke furniture ✔️
Value engineering ✔️
Sourcing + delivery ✔️

From bespoke marble table tops and a leather bar bench to a custom-height terrace sofa, the furniture was designed around the space — not the other way round.

The design features a hand-painted ceiling and tiled murals by .art , woven seating, warm details, and a weather-glazed terrace overlooking the West Pier.

The result? A lighter, warmer scheme that feels very Brighton, without being a seaside cliché.

Balancing Style & Ergonomics in Restaurant Chairs

When it comes to restaurant seating, choosing a beautiful chair is only part of the equation. The right specification needs to balance the overall design concept with guest comfort, commercial durability and the practical demands of a busy hospitality environment.

👥 Design Around the Guest: From staff requirements to comfort and
dwell time, great restaurant seating starts
with understanding how the space will
actually be used.

📐 Get the Ergonomics Right: Seat height, depth, and backrest angle
have a major impact on guest experience.
Get these right and diners will be able to
enjoy their meal in comfort, without the
furniture affecting their experience.

🪵 Choose Materials Carefully: There is no single best material for restaurant seating.
Wood brings warmth and character, metal offers strength
and durability, while upholstered seating provides additional
comfort, so the right choice should reflect both the design
concept and the operational demands of the space.

🪑 Match the Interior Style: Restaurant chairs should support the architecture
and overall interior concept rather than compete
with them. Consider silhouettes, proportions, materials
and finishes that work naturally with the surrounding
space while still giving the furniture its own character.

🧵 Consider Upholstery & Cushioning: Comfort depends just as much on what is inside
the chair as what is wrapped around it. Supportive
cushioning, high-density foam and commercially
suitable upholstery can provide lasting comfort while
standing up to the cleaning requirements and
everyday wear of hospitality environments.

POV: your coffee spot just became your dinner spot. ALMA Café Nine Elms was designed to work from day to night.

Flat white? Obviously.
Brunch? Sorted.
Dinner and drinks? Now we’re talking.

We had the pleasure of supplying the furniture across the space, from relaxed café seating to stylish outdoor pieces for alfresco dining.

The space brings together warm timber, terracotta, natural stone and playful artwork to set the mood. And that illuminated bar canopy? Definitely stealing the spotlight.

So… shall we meet for coffee or cocktails?

Discover the benefits of cane for hospitality interiors. Lightweight and natural with a timeless aesthetic, cane introduces warmth, texture, and character while creating inviting and relaxed contract environments.

1. Why choose cane?
Cane is a natural material made from the outer skin of the rattan vine. Recognised for its woven appearance and lightweight qualities, it adds warmth, texture, and timeless appeal to hospitality interiors while bringing a handcrafted aesthetic to furniture.

2. Design advantages for contract spaces:
Cane introduces natural texture and visual interest while remaining lightweight, making furniture easy to move and reposition. Its breathable woven construction enhances comfort, particularly in warmer indoor environments, while its versatile appearance complements both contemporary and traditional hospitality interiors, creating welcoming and relaxed spaces for guests.

3. Maintenance and surface care:
Cane should be cleaned regularly with a soft cloth or mild soapy water to remove dust and everyday dirt. As a natural material, slight fraying and variations in colour or texture may occur over time. To maximise durability, cane is best specified for chair backs and hospitality settings with moderate rather than heavy use.
