Creative Workshops using recycled materials: repurposing, re-using and upcycling to create awesome new craft & art work. Open to all skill levels.

Lead by a multi-disciplinary artist/designer/maker. I am a multi-medium practitioner in art, craft and design. I wish to extend my experience and knowledge base to help others get the creative bug! My aim is to provide adult workshops in the community, mainly for beginners. I want to reach those who love art and craft, but don’t believe they can do it themselves. My workshops would also appeal to

We love this picture from one of our recent peer group sessions. Here our artists are sharing work with the intention of curating an exhibition to go in our ground-floor gallery. Most of these participants were not artists before joining the group, but just look at their work now!

Rogan art is a traditional form of fabric painting that originated in the Kutch region of Gujarat, India. It is characterized by intricate designs and vibrant colors. Rogan art involves the use of a thick, brightly colored paint made from castor oil, which is applied to fabric using a metal rod. The artisan creates elaborate patterns by stretching and twirling the rod on the fabric.

This art form requires great skill and precision, as the paint is applied freehand without any preliminary sketches. The designs often depict elements of nature, such as flowers, birds, and animals. Rogan art has been traditionally used to adorn textiles, including clothing, wall hangings, and accessories.

Rogan art is not only visually striking but also has cultural and historical significance. The craft has been passed down through generations, and artisans who practice Rogan art are considered master craftsmen. However, due to the intricate nature of the art form and the time-consuming process involved, Rogan art is a rare and niche craft.

In recent years, efforts have been made to promote Rogan art and preserve this traditional craft. Artisans are receiving recognition for their skills, and workshops and training programs have been organized to teach Rogan art to new generations. It is also gaining attention as a unique and valuable form of folk art, attracting collectors and enthusiasts from around the world.

Making Mum's 85th Birthday Card 13/06/2016

My mum is turning 85 years old young this month, so I thought I better make something special to commemorate it. I haven't made her anything for a spell, so really needed to for this special occasion.
This card was inspired by the vintage greetings card seen here. I acquired a whole box of these old cards and this one jumped out at me and said Save me for mum!
I love working with cardboard, so proceeded to construct an interesting presentation for it in the shape of a small box. This way, more embellishments and sentiments can be added, and discovered. It's kinda fun that her age is hidden inside, as I'm sure she would prefer it that way! The photo in the lid was taken 3 years ago, the last time I was home.

Creative Cardboard Construction at home with Matt 03/05/2016

Matt wanted to practive working with cardboard for a project at school, so we cleared the table and got started. Cardboard is one of the best, cheapest and most readily available materials one can use for many different projects. Matt decided to work on a 5 cm cube. It's not as easy as you think, as you have to calculate all the dimensions in each section, considering the thickness of the board. I decided I had to muck in and settled on doing a relatively simple heart shaped box. it wasn't long before we were both completely absorbed in our creations. If any one is interested in learning how to work with cardboard and would like a taster session, just get in touch.
