Later, my search for meaning took me and my wife backpacking — even to India in the footsteps of George Harrison — before I landed in Sydney and began working for Rupert Murdoch at 25. Returning to the UK with “baby in tow,” I threw myself into business, chasing Mammon and forgetting my spiritual quest.

7️⃣ Audit your competitors – see what the top 3 are doing… then do it better.

💡 Google isn’t just checking if your business exists. It’s looking for proof that you’re trusted, active, and part of your community.

Your mission: shift from a business that runs you → to a system-driven business that runs without you. That’s how you scale.

On 1st April 2004 — April Fool’s Day — I walked into an empty office. My ex-business partner had tricked me into signing an agreement, taken back the clients, and persuaded the staff to join him. Two months later, he froze the bank account and left me for dead.

But I survived. And I prospered. My life had prepared me for that moment.

I also remember another low point — made redundant twice in quick succession, just before Easter. As the sole earner, with a big mortgage and two children, I felt crushed. A wise older lady told me:
