I can’t believe it’s been nine years since Jumble Trail began. I was working in a job that I didn’t really enjoy. I was reading about community artists that created projects to redesign how we interact with each other. I remember going to talk by Jeremy Deller and being inspired. In the beginning, I didn’t think it was going to be a success. I was so concerned I’m getting 10 houses on board, I went over to the top flyering as many houses as I could with hand stamped invitations, explaining what I was doing. I then went and flyered the same houses with an actual flyer. There is a snowball effect where the fear of missing out kicks in and everyone starts to get on board. I remember the year when there were 12,000 people going on Facebook and 500 houses taking part. It was such a great feeling to know that the energy I’ve put in was totally worth while and had been matched with the generosity of the community around me. It’s amazing what can happen if you galvanise people. What a gorgeous memory to hold in my heart. I am so pleased that Jumble Trail lives on.

Dear Jumblers,
It has been four years since we started Jumble Trail and we have come a long way with events happening across the country and well established events getting bigger every year.
As our personal circumstances have changed it has become increasingly difficult to manage the site in our spare time as well as secure the £4k per year we need to cover costs or find additional funds to make the site better.
With this in mind we will not be registering any new Jumble Trails from now on and plan to turn the site off in April.
Our hope is that Jumble Trails will continue to happen without us and the spirit of community, reuse and recycling will live on.
We will send a final communication later this month.
Thanks for your support you have been amazing.
