At Rencraft we have been designing and making handmade bespoke kitchens and furniture for over 40 years. Each piece of furniture is handmade to order in our extensively equipped workshops. This allows freedom and flexibility in planning and design, full control of material and production quality, which is all delivered at a sensible cost.

If there’s one thing every family boot room needs, it’s a bench like this one in our Tunbridge Wells showroom, which earns its place several times over before you’ve even made it out of the door.

It’s the perfect spot to sit and pull off muddy wellies after a long country walk or tie shoelaces on a busy school morning, while the pegs above keep wet wax jackets, scarves, hats and school blazers hanging within easy reach, exactly where everyone needs them each day.

Lift the seat and there’s even more to discover, with generous storage tucked beneath for tall boots and all the sports kit that otherwise ends up scattered across the hallway, from footballs and tennis racquets to hockey sticks.

It’s a perfect example of how our designers think about the way your family really lives, so that every bespoke space we create is as practical as it is beautiful.

All the best boot rooms have a story, and ours begins with this cherished collection of walking sticks, each one handcrafted by a member of the Rencraft family.

Some things are simply too precious to be tucked away in a cupboard, and true craftsmanship deserves to be seen and admired, so when we designed the boot room in our Tunbridge Wells showroom, we gave these walking sticks a corner of their very own. Every one is beautifully displayed, always within easy reach for the next country walk, and carefully held so that nothing knocks, scratches or topples.

And that’s exactly how we approach every project we take on. Our designers always take the time to get to know you, your family and the way you live, so that the objects, memories and little rituals that matter most to you can be woven into the very fabric of your bespoke space.

This worktop looks barely 5mm thick, but it’s actually 12mm, and the secret lies in its shark’s nose edge. By bevelling the underside of the ceramic back at an angle, all you see from standing height is a fine, razor-sharp line, giving you the delicate, floating look of an ultra-thin surface while the full strength of the slab sits quietly underneath.

On this contemporary island, the crisp white ceramic is paired with warm flat-front oak drawers and a hob set flush into the surface, so nothing interrupts the clean lines and the whole space feels light, calm and effortlessly considered.

Nobody expects to find a whole room hiding behind the cabinetry, but that’s exactly what our client asked for. With plenty of storage for dry goods high on the wish list, we tucked a large walk-in pantry into the layout, built seamlessly into a long run of cabinetry and reached through a secret door. Not only does it bring a little bit of fun and a real wow factor, it also means the run of cabinetry flows uninterrupted, with no need to break it up for a standard doorway.

Step inside and this secret little gem of a room is just as considered. A mix of open and closed storage and shelving in natural oiled oak looks beautiful against the striking patterned floor tiles, while antique mirror fronts on the tall cupboards along one side create a lovely sense of space. We picked up that same tone again with the Perrin & Rowe Oberon tap in English Bronze, tying the whole room together.

This urban contemporary kitchen, tucked in the basement of our Tunbridge Wells showroom, was built to make a statement. A super-chunky 200mm quartz worktop houses a Gaggenau induction hob with integrated downdraft extractor, set flush into the surface and all controlled by k***s on the front. No overhead hood, nothing to interrupt the view of the copper splashback, aged to a soft verdigris green, or the brick slips lining the chimney breast.

Bold claim? Two coffee nooks, two very different ways to hide them away ☕

On the left, bi-folds. They fold neatly back on themselves, need far less depth inside the cabinet, and make every opening feel like a little reveal. Ideal where space is tighter, or when you’d like the nook to feel like a piece of furniture in its own right.

On the right, pocket doors. They open, then slide straight back into the cabinetry so they disappear completely. Nothing swings into the kitchen and nothing gets in the way, which makes them perfect for a coffee station that stays open all morning and quietly closes at the end of the day.

Both keep the clutter of machines, mugs and canisters out of sight until you need them. The real question is how you like to live.

Meet the Chef’s Table from our Calverley Collection. It’s a kitchen table that works as hard as any island.

On one side, deep drawers keep everything you need for prep within reach, with a secret drawer holding a knife block and spice organiser. On the other, there’s space for three stools, ready for breakfast, homework or a cup of tea while supper’s on.

Each table is made to measure and individually handcrafted in our Kent workshop, using the same traditional methods we’ve relied on since 1980.

And because it’s freestanding, it isn’t left behind when you move. It travels with you from home to home, an heirloom in waiting, ready to be passed down and loved for generations.

Saturday afternoon starts at the island: cake out, friends pulling up a stool for a quick catch-up. Hand painted in Stony Ground by Farrow & Ball and topped with Calacatta Gold quartz with a 60mm waterfall edge, it’s made for the kind of chats that begin while the coffee is still brewing.

By Saturday evening, the conversation moves next door. The glassware comes out of the glazed dresser, where oak interiors and soft LED lighting make every glass glint, and the bottle comes from the little bar nook by the fireplace, with open shelving above and a w**e rack and cupboard below.

Both rooms are hand painted in the same tones, so the day flows from one space to the next as easily as the conversation does.

Watch this before you design your boot room 🥾

A boot room works hard. Muddy paws, wet coats, school bags, wellies for every member of the family. So before you commit to a layout, it’s worth asking a few questions. Where will the boots actually live? Do you need somewhere to sit? Where will damp coats dry? And how much do you want on show versus tucked neatly away?

The best way to answer them is to stand in one. This boot room is on display in our Tunbridge Wells showroom, so come and open the doors, try the bench and picture it in your own home. Like everything we make, it’s designed and handmade in our workshop at Chart Farm, where we’ve been crafting bespoke cabinetry since 1980.
