And that thing was…..I nominated Sarah and The Little Leigh Store in the Sherborne Business Awards 2026 for the Community Service Award - And the WON!!!!! 🎉

Nestled in the beautiful rural village of Leigh, near Sherborne, The Little Leigh Store & Café has become the beating heart of the community.
What was once the village garage and post office has been lovingly transformed into a charming village shop, café, and welcoming space for everyone.
Over the last five years, it has grown into so much more than a place to buy essentials. It’s the central hub of village life—a place where neighbours meet, friendships flourish, and visitors, cyclists, farmers, and the local postie are always greeted so warmly!
At the heart of it all is Sarah, who owns the shop alongside her husband. It’s a real family effort, with their two boys often lending a hand and helping make the café the friendly place everyone knows and loves. Sarah, makes everyone feel so welcome – her warmth and kindness are a huge part of what makes this place so special.
They’re helped by two permanent members of staff and an incredible team of around eight volunteers, whose time, kindness and community spirit keep everything running so smoothly.
The shop proudly supports fantastic local producers, including Reads Coffee, Hunts, Thorners, Evershot Bakery, and Artisan, every visit helps celebrate the very best of Dorset.
The Little Leigh Store & Café is back!! After being closed for two months following an unfortunate incident in June, themuch-loved village shop and café has reopened — and it’s better than ever! It’s so much more than a place to enjoy their coffee or food, pick up essentials – its’ the way it brings people together every single day.
Sarah, her family, the dedicated staff, and the amazing volunteers have created something incredibly special. It’s more than a village shop and café—it’s a community, and it deserves to be celebrated.
