⛏️ Could you be a Colliery Champion?
Help shape the future of Scotland’s national mining museum!
We are looking for enthusiastic volunteers to join our team and help us build excitement for the future.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone interested in museums, heritage, communications or community engagement to gain practical experience.
Whether you're a student looking to build your experience, a professional wanting to share your skills, or someone with time and enthusiasm to support the Museum, we'd love to hear from you.
Working alongside the Development Officer and wider teams, you could help with a some (or all) of the following activities:
1. 📣 Sharing Our Story: Creating engaging social media content, blogs, reels and podcasts that bring our collections, stories and vision for the future to life.
2. 💬Supporting Community Conversations: Listening to local people and helping shape a Museum where everyone feels welcome, represented and connected.
3. 💡 Creating Fundraising Opportunities: Co-designing imaginative fundraising activities and events that inspire people to support the Museum.
You don’t need previous experience - just enthusiasm, ideas and a willingness to get involved. We’ll provide support and help you find activities that suit your interests and availability.
Whether you’re interested in heritage, communications, community engagement or fundraising, this is your chance to develop new skills, meet people and make a difference. As a National Museum we encourage remote working too, and would love to work with communities near and far.
You will be key to helping making national heritage relevant and impactful for current and future generations.
