This neo-Victorian style bespoke mantle piece was created for a residential hone owner based in Greenwich. The brief was to create the mantle piece in keeping with the period of the house (mid-19 Century).
The mantle piece is made using hydrofugo moister-resistant MDF, primed and spray-painted with two topcoat of egg-shell white paint.
The addition of crenelated details got reintroduced in architecture and decorative interior furnishing elements during that period and described as ‘Gothic Revival.
The picture frame above the mantle piece in the first image has been generated using Claude AI to embellish the decor. The artwork represents Fragonard’s gallant scene ‘The Lucky Chance Of The Escarpolette’ painting (1767-1769) also know as The Swing or The Happy Accident Of The Swing. The original painting can be seen at the truly wonderful Wallace Collection Museum in London.
