Made to the customers exact requirement. 1600x800mm, 38mm thick top, breadboard ends. This solid Oak dining table with chunky metal legs is finished in Fiddes hard wax matt oil. 😮‍💨

Oak dining table top is nearing completion. This is me apply the finish over 2 days.

The time and effort it takes to prepare the oak for finish, the hours of sanding, oiling, buffing, de-nibbling. All worth it for this end result.

Installing threaded inserts for the dining table legs. This will make the table much easier for the customer to collect as it means it essential “flat-packs”.

Drawboring the breadboard ends to the main top.
The dowel is glued at the top and bottom of the hole, which secures it to the breadboard, but allows it to move across the width for seasonal movement. The tenon has an elongated hole that the dowel goes through. This was shown in my previous post. 😵‍💫

That makes sense to me… I think 🤔

Dining table breadboard ends using the domino.
Centre domino is a tight fit. The remaining dominos on the breadboard are set to a loose fitting to allow for seasonal movement.
The dining table panel has the tight fit setting on all 5 dominos

Before, During, After.

What a difference this has made to the outside kitchen area. Accoya frame and Tricoya panel doors to replace the original MDF doors that had oak strip panelling. Customer painted the cupboard doors themselves, ties in nicely with the table which is out of shot. 😮‍💨👌

The finishing piece to the bed build for my son - The headboard is now complete. Made from Ash to tie in with the bed frame. The headboard has a 6° angle so it’s comfortable to sit up and read. I installed 2 reading lights.

Not going to lie. I am over the moon with how this has all come together. It did however kick my ass on numerous occasions, my patience have been tested many times with trying to get my head around some of the maths involved. But all so worth it!

I like to think that this will last him forever and perhaps be passed down to his son or daughter.

I have written a note on the back for my son to find sometime in the future.

I love my son, and he will never be in any doubt of that x
