Dear Hela Provincial Government and Koroba Lake Kopiago DDA,
Hope this message finds you well. I am posting this because I can't message you directly for your attention regarding this matter.
I am the son of Late Jerry Yako from the Bisamu village, Lake Kopiago.
I am an environmental scientist with extensive work experience in Environmental Impact Assessments and Permit Condition Requirements, and I would kindly like to bring this to your attention for our district and Strickland Riverine community, that New Porgera Limited will be undergoing a full Environment Impact Audit after 30 years of operations.
Kopiago is part of the impact region, and CEPA will be the only state entity carrying out the audit.
To my understanding, it will be a bit biased.
A third-party environmental consultant should be involved in that audit as well to verify the real impacts from the mine.
I would kindly suggest that KLK DDA could fund a third-party consultant to carry this study concurrently with CEPA to justify the seriousness of the mine impacting our riverine communities.
Kulu Environmental Services, as a locally owned consulting firm, is ready to step in if there is a sponsor. If KLK DDA sponsors me, I'll table all the study findings to KLK DDA for decision-making purposes for our district.

I look forward to hearing from you.

Jay Jerry Yako
