Our mini forest on the Tara Road has transformed a piece of verge and boosted biodiversity.

In February 2025, we planted five hundred native Irish saplings to create the mini forest, using the Miyawaki method.

Japanese botanist Akira Miyawaki created the Miyawaki method to grow thick, fast-developing forests using local, native plants.

This project was made possible by Amazon, who funded the project, John from Stepping Stone Forests and the staff and students of Laytown Bettystown Youthreach who helped us to prepare the site and plant the saplings.

Leave nothing but footprints 👣
Take nothing but memories 💭

We love our local coast. That’s why we put up this new piece of street art. It is a simple reminder to enjoy the beach and respect nature.

A huge thank you to the talented Cormac Dillon of Mack Studios for his artwork. We are also very grateful to BT Bistro for letting us use their outdoor wall.

Stop by, take a look, and let’s keep our beaches beautiful together!

Bettystown’s painted utility boxes look good enough to eat! 🎨🍦

These colorful pieces, designed and created by local artist Susanne M Deasy, are already a hit with young visitors enjoying ice cream treats from Ellie's Ice Cream.
