A process that began over two years ago…
Documented in part here.
Together with Richard, we have developed The Misfits. Three cocktail glasses - sculptural, eccentric, fun.
The conical one.
The rounder one.
The squarer one.
In a limited edition of 150. (50 of each). Mouth blown in amber glass.
We were led in the development of the Misfits by Richard’s ability to play and to explore form. They are all invention; slightly weird, a new language for glass. Their character is a deliberate leaning in; to our own individual idiosyncrasies - our unique identities outside the mainstream.
Now available to shop through jhillsstandard.com - or via the link in our bio, The Misfits have landed.
A special thank you to Scott Benefield who gave us his skilled time to explore form and possibility in the Benefield Spencer workshop in North Antrim.

Intentionally unique, each carries the trace of the human hand. Each has a character, a sense of leaning, rest, or resistance. Small sculptures that contain a notion of devilment - an impulse to misbehave.
An edition of 50 of each: the conical one, the square one and the round one. In amber glass.
Available to buy through the website this Thursday, 16th April at 12:00 GMT.

Runner Stones
New Launch at Matter and Shape, 2025.
Drawn by Nigel Peake and kiln cast in glass,
these pleasing pieces take their form from
the heavy circular stones, usually of sandstone or granite, dating back many thousands of years and once used for grinding grain.
The glass is melted into a mould at high temperatures and once annealed,
hand sculpted and worked to a smooth, reflective surface which gently reflects the candle light they so effectively hold.
