STATEMENT BY GLOBAL CHILDREN NETWORK KENYA (GCN)
On the Safety and Protection of Children
Global Children Network Kenya (GCN) strongly condemns any situation that endangers the safety, emotional well-being, and lives of children.
It is deeply disturbing to witness children running for safety during Sunday School at Witima ACK Church in Othaya. Places of worship and learning should be sanctuaries of peace, not scenes of fear.
Children are vulnerable and impressionable. Exposure to violence and panic causes trauma that may affect their mental and emotional development for years to come.
GCN firmly states that children are not participants in politics or conflict. They must be protected at all times and kept away from environments that place them at risk.
We call upon leaders, institutions, and communities to uphold child protection standards and ensure that every child grows in safety, dignity, and peace.
Every child deserves a safe childhood.
