A Brief Guide to Painting Your Home

Step 1: Plan Your Project

Decide on room(s) to paint
Pick a color scheme
Determine quantity needed
Step 2: Collect Tools and Supplies

Polythene paper,Masking tape
Brushes and rollers
Buckets
Ladder
Sandpaper
Paint

Step 3: Preparation

Move or cover furniture
Remove window treatments
Lay down drop cloths or polythene paper
Tape off baseboards, windows, and doors
Step 4: Prepare Surfaces

Clean walls removing dirt, grease, or molds
Repair imperfections with wall filler
Lightly sand previously painted surfaces
Wipe away residue
Step 5: Priming or apply undercoat

Stir primers well
Apply primer using a roller for big areas and a brush for cutting in edges
Let dry as recommended by the manufacturer
Step 6: Painting

Stir paints vigorously
Start by cutting in around edges with a brush
Use a roller to paint larger areas
Apply thin, even coats for best results
Wait for suggested drying time before recoating
Step 7: Final Touch Ups

Examine finished work closely
Make touch-ups where needed
Remove painter's tape cautiously
Clean up workspace
Additional Tips:

Open windows for ventilation
Protect skin and lungs with protective gear
Keep pets and children away from wet paint
Store leftover paint properly for future touch-ups.
