Just sharing what’s on my plate currently and there’s one more coming, still in prepping stage 😬😅 What have I gotten myself into? Although I’m on a reading slump, I do have an ARC to finish during my commute so that I can continue finishing my crochet 🤞🏻 The rest would have to be done at home as it isn’t safe to have needles in the train 🤣

New skill unlock for me! So happy to join this fun workshop at Lucy Yong , learning to Quilt As You Go! Such a simple yet tedious hand sewing that can make so many beautiful and useful things 😍

Cikgu Arfah is attentive, detailed and her handiwork is so meticulous yet fine! I’m in awe with all her masterpieces! One of the reasons I’ve joined this class was to be able to hand sew quilts properly and my aim is to eventually make a big quilt by hand sewing 🤞🏻 Wish me luck 🤞🏻

I have been captivated by the many lovely designs of Sashiko and curious on how to sew it. Thankfully, I have Cikgu Nurina to teach and guide me!

It sure looks simple and easy but it has its own methodical systematic ways! It’s truly an oshin way, from Google : lots of patience, hard work and deep endurance of sewing. I do find the rhythmic sewing comforting though I was quite distracted by the imperfection 😅 Cikgu kept reminding that it’s wabi-sabi, from Google : a foundational Japanese worldview and aesthetic centered on finding beauty in imperfection, impermanence, and simplicity 😬 Actually, as a beginner, it’s expected la but I was a little OCD 🤣

Overall, I’m very happy with how it turned out as Cikgu gave a background summary of how Sashiko started, then the 3 various methods which I’ve forgotten 😩 but I’m learning the first one, the basic lahhh… I was so caught up with the sewing method lah! I even have homework to bring home, to continue practising and I think I can bring it along during my commute 🤞🏻 Another skill unlocked for me!!!

Throwback to last weekend’s empire cut dressmaking with Cikgu Dayah!

I’m surprised how little I remembered from my classes more than 15 years ago! Somehow it did feel a little familiar as I progressed. I honestly hoped I’ll keep it up and practice more 🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻

I’ve actually started this in February but there were many distractions that I’ve put it on hold. Now it’s finally completed!

Ginger The Pony is a pattern by Lee Mei Li from her book, Hello Pocket Crochet. I’ve always liked her patterns as, aside from cuteness overload, they are easy to understand! I’ve made mine in pink and red as I thought it suits the current Chinese horoscope, fire horse!

What I’ve used:
Milk cotton yarns and fibre filling
You can purchase the book from Fabric and Craft Supplies Shop (Malaysia)

A recap of my previous sewing efforts with Teacher Kim more than 15 years ago 😅 Apologies on the blurry pics taken back then for my old blog.

Of course, I have given back my knowledge to the teacher, so to speak, as I haven’t sew clothes properly in ages! Mostly mending clothes or sewing curtains etc 😅 As such, I’m naturally anxious to start sewing clothes again soon 🙏🏻 Wish me luck 🤞🏻
