Chinecherem: The Girl the Village Could Not Break
Chinecherem was born into a village that knew her name only as a burden. Her parents died early, and from that day, life stopped being kind to her. She moved from one relative to another, not because anyone wanted her, but because tradition demanded she be kept alive. She fetched water before dawn, farmed under the harsh sun, and slept last after everyone else had eaten. Many nights, she went to bed hungry. Many days, she swallowed insults as her daily meal.
They called her nothing.
They said she would never amount to anything.
Some reminded her, often, that she was surviving on mercy.
But Chinecherem carried something no one could see—quiet strength.
When other children went to school freely, she went reluctantly, only when chores allowed. Her clothes were worn, her books incomplete, but her mind was sharp. She listened more than she spoke. She observed life carefully. Every insult became fuel. Every tear watered a future no one believed in.
At sixteen, she was sent out of the village to work as a house help in the city. It was meant to bury her completely. Instead, it exposed her to possibility. She worked honestly, saved secretly, and learned eagerly. At night, while others slept, she read borrowed books. She learned skills. She asked questions. She refused to let suffering define her ceiling.
Years passed.
Quietly, Chinecherem grew.
She started a small business. It struggled, but she did not quit. She failed, adjusted, learned, and rose again. Discipline replaced pity. Vision replaced anger. Purpose replaced pain. What others used as an excuse, she used as a stepping stone.
One day, she returned to the village—not in shame, not in noise, but in dignity.
This time, her name carried weight.
She built a house where people once denied her a bed. She employed youths who once mocked her. She paid school fees for children who reminded her of herself. The same elders who dismissed her now spoke her name with respect. The same village that broke her now celebrated her.
Chinecherem did not revenge. She outgrew.
She became the talk of the town—not because she shouted her success, but because her life spoke loudly. Her story taught the village a hard truth: a maltreated child can become a mighty woman if she refuses to surrender her spirit.
And so, Chinecherem stood—proof that beginnings do not determine endings, and that silence, when mixed with resilience, can shake the world.

Almighty God, the Creator of all things and the Sustainer of our lives,
we thank You for the gift of today, for breath in our lungs, and for mercy that never runs dry.
We lay before You our burdens, our fears, and the battles we cannot fight alone.
Cleanse our hearts, renew our strength, and realign our steps with Your perfect will.
Speak peace into every storm surrounding us.
Open doors ordained by You and shut every door that leads us astray.
Give us wisdom to choose rightly, courage to stand firm, and faith to trust You fully.
Go before us, walk with us, and cover us with Your divine protection.
Let our lives reflect Your glory and be a blessing to our generation.
We receive Your grace, favor, and peace.
In Jesus’ mighty name, Amen.🙏🙏

Given:

Capital introduced = ₦200,000

Goods purchased = ₦120,000 (on credit → creates a liability)

Half of the goods sold for ₦90,000 cash

Step 1: Work out the cost of goods sold (COGS)

Total goods = ₦120,000
Half sold → COGS = ₦120,000 ÷ 2 = ₦60,000

Step 2: Work out profit on sales

Sales = ₦90,000
COGS = ₦60,000
Profit = ₦90,000 – ₦60,000 = ₦30,000

Ada was tired.
Tired of job rejections.
Tired of watching her mates succeed while she struggled.
Tired of waking up every day feeling like she was stuck on repeat.

One day, she told herself, “This is the last try. If this doesn't work, I’m done.”

She applied for one more role. Sent one more email. Said one more prayer.

She didn’t hear back for two months.

Then, one morning—still wearing her wrapper, holding a cup of garri and groundnut,she got the call.

“Hello Ada, we’d love to have you on our team.”

She screamed. She cried. She danced.

Now, that “last try” is the job that opened doors she never imagined—travel, growth, peace of mind.

The lesson? Sometimes, your breakthrough is just one more try away.

Don’t quit five minutes before your miracle.
Rest if you must—but please don’t give up.

If this touched you, share it. You never know who needs this hope today.
