I thought the authors did a yoreman's job in the book "My Guide Through College " The book highlights the effervescent that propels young people to greatness and every youngster going to ivory tower should have a copy as a guild.
The nuggets offered in the book on how to apply for scholarships is the flagship of the book. This is one aspect students ignore as Freshmen and sophomore students in Ivy.
On part 2 page 23 the book gives a concise advice on not compromising study on the alter of "hustle". Hear them
"Nevertheless, be careful with your time, your academics supersedes all things for now. Be moderate with business, never let it over -shadow academics be ready to even drop it for academics. "
On the area of balancing academics and social life I felt more meat should have been cooked with real life experiences. There is no need been a first class student if you are a social misfit and unaware of things around you. And I will add this as an advice . IF you spend 4 or 5 years in the university, please don't just get out with a degree. Make sure you come out with a network of great minds.
In subsequent editions I would love to see the authors dive into school politics and unionism,as a good learning ground for youngsters to learn soft skills like confidence, negotiation skills, eloquence, and teamwork especially now that our country is in dire need of young leaders.
Finally I observed that the topics in the content where not numbered. It can be worked on.!!!
Levi and Oladele have written a nice book. The English and presentation is modern and easy to understand. Little or no grammar and spelling errors. It is a must have for freshers. I do not regret reading it and I will gladly give a leg and an arm to get a copy of the book for my unborn kids.
