As engineers, we should understand that structural infrastructure is designed based on specific loads, stresses, safety factors, and other engineering considerations. Introducing additional dead loads to an existing bridge without proper structural assessment and verification raises legitimate questions about its safety and long-term integrity.

Before making modifications to critical infrastructure, the proper approach should be to conduct a thorough structural assessment and ensure that every proposed addition is adequately accounted for in the design.

Infrastructure is not an experiment. Engineering decisions should be guided by calculations, professional standards, and evidence—not assumptions or personal preferences.
