A new city, a new home and a fresh start in the heart of Amsterdam 🪴

This project began with a semi-furnished apartment and a client who had a very clear vision for how she wanted her new home to feel. She was open to mixing secondhand pieces with newly sourced items where it made sense which allowed us to create a space that felt both intentional and personal from the very beginning.

One of the first pieces we found was a beautiful leather couch on the secondhand market, almost identical to the family’s couch back in the US. The moment it arrived the apartment immediately started feeling a little more familiar and a little more like home.

We also wanted to make sure Amsterdam’s littlest new expat felt settled too 🧸 Their familiar play kitchen and dining setup were ready and waiting so that, even in the middle of a huge international move, playtime and little routines could continue uninterrupted.

A real highlight of this project was the secondhand Murphy bed we installed in the office space, creating a comfortable guest setup without taking away valuable Amsterdam living space. Practical, functional and the perfect fit for this home 🍃

Over the course of the project, we worked closely with our client to coordinate deliveries, source pieces thoughtfully and set up favourite appliances and homeware so that everything was ready from the moment the family walked through the door.

Arriving in a new country and going straight into work is a lot, so this is where our Day 1 Arrival Package comes in 🍃

It’s designed for clients who already know what they want in their home, but don’t have the time (or headspace) to coordinate it all. We take care of the logistics in advance so everything is ready from the moment they arrive.

For a recent move to Utrecht, that meant setting up a fully functional home office, stocking the kitchen with essentials, putting cleaning and pet supplies in place and assembling the beds and adding fresh linen and towels.

Nothing left to organise, nothing left to figure out. Just a home that’s ready to live and work in from day one 🪴

With early access to the property, clear communication on style and preferences and a shared openness to the secondhand market, we were able to transform an empty space into a fully furnished, thoughtfully curated home ready from day one using only secondhand furniture.

No mattresses on the floor. No takeaway boxes as makeshift tables. Just a comfortable space to land in a brand new country 🪴 🇳🇱

This project came with its fair share of challenges (late nights, surprise electrical issues, and a couch that absolutely refused to go up the stairs… until it went through the window), but it also reminded us why we love what we do. There’s something incredibly rewarding about piecing together a home sustainably, creatively and with intention 🪴

When this family of four from the US secured a beautiful, but completely empty house in Hilversum, HomeCycle stepped in to make sure that before the family arrived, their home had:
