A favorite of mine is getting a refresh before it is sent to Auckland.
The timber is Redwood from north Canterbury and the "stitches" are recycled Jarrah.
The pattern in the Redwood reminds me of "starry night" by Van Gogh.
Just in case you are wondering what are the black panels above, these are infrared heaters that keep my bald head from freezing and keep the timber temperature consistent for oiling.

A new round wall piece that I'm just putting the final touches to.
This one is made of Elm and held together by a ring made of walnut.
This one is going to be put aside for Makers Market next month in Auckland.
I hope you all having a good week.

The first third of the library is up. We found that the floor slopes and I will need to create a fix for that. Easy .
Apart from that it fits nicely to the spot and I'm, and more importantly, the client are happy.
Have a good week.

Eric Wu from BONZ shared with me this image of one of my wall pieces in situ.
Great image Eric. Thank you and BONZ for stocking my creations.

Last look at the first third of the library before it leaves tomorrow.

This asymmetrical books shelves unit is one of the more fun builds I had recently.
It's only third way up to 3.5 meters but limitations in height (meaning, I am short) means it is going to be installed one third at a time.
Made of recycled rimu found at Musgroves in chch .

Happiness is an engine screaming at top rpm with the neck breaking speed of 65kph😁.
Not the fastest way to get work but certainly one of the most entertaining.

It is nice to be welcomed to the workshops by yesterday's work.
This is a narrow but tall (3.5 mtr) library made from recycled Rimu.
It is made to look like random size shelves cobbled
together. Some of the rectangle sections will protrude to accommodate larger books.
Fun to make but take a lot of brain juice to bring together .
You would not believe that I was a videographer once upon a time...
Somewhat shaking camera work like all the best directors...
Anyway, a walnut light to keep the short days lighter.
I made this with Makers Market in Auckland in mind (October 9th to 11th). So if you are from Auckland or visiting that weekend, come and say hello.

The walnut light is now complete. It came up pretty well I think.
There is a little forest of them in the background which means I should put my gaze into other designs until these find a home which is not the gallery.
Another day that struggles to get over the 5°c here in Otautahi Christchurch.
So keep warm and have a wonderful weekend.
