Dawat-e-Islami was founded by Shaykh-e-Tariqat, Ameer-e-Ahl-e-Sunnat Hazrat Allamah Maulana Abu Bilal Muhammad Ilyas Attar Qadiri Razavi in 1981. It emerged as an answer to Tablighi Jamaat movement, the latter of which gained such popularity that it became the non-political Muslim organisation with members in 5 countries.
