This was a project and I have spent some time on. We wanted to make a pickup winder that was a little more on the fun and nostalgic side. Anybody can make a cube winder, does yours hold a ghost?! It’s been an honor to build this bass for the @robertovenn.school.of.luthiery 50th anniversary. To be included with and share space with some of the best luthiers has been such a privilege. This Bass is a multi-scale 33-34.5”. Nicaraguan Rosewood was used for the top, fingerboard, pickup covers, bridge, head cap, k***s and control cavity cover. Genuine mahogany was used for the body and roasted flame maple for the neck. Lots of brass inlays to boot. So this guitar turned out awesome but the process was a bit of a challenge. I changed over to urethane (probably not the best idea to learn on a color shift pigment), used a color shift pigment for the first time, and did a fair amount of inlay and LED work.
