Designed by Marcel Breuer in 1925 at the Bauhaus, the Wassily Chair was inspired by something surprisingly ordinary: the tubular steel handlebars of his own bicycle.
What followed was a radical new approach to furniture: bent steel, suspended leather straps, and a lightness that challenged everything a chair was expected to be.

Originally known as the Model B3, it later became the Wassily Chair, named after the artist Wassily Kandinsky, who admired Breuer’s design.
A century later, it remains a powerful expression of modernism: functional, sculptural, and effortlessly timeless.

From the Experts, No. 01: Atelier HA

Our first editorial, with a Paris studio we have long admired. Hugo and Adèle design restaurants, hotels and homes as worlds of their own, led by colour, material and light rather than a signature style.

The values we share go far beyond a love of mid-century design. They mix periods freely, treat a vintage piece as a way to bring another sense of time into a room, and know from experience that a project depends on sourcing that is precise and reliable.

For this first edition they chose ten pieces from our collection - a cabinet attributed to Fantoni in wood and deep red lacquer, the Ciuingam sofa by De Pas, D’Urbino and Lomazzi, and so many other special treasures.

In this editorial, we explore the potential of reinterpreting vintage dining chairs through the use of Dedar’s new Versi Liberi collection.
Starting from classic silhouettes and different chair typologies, we explore how the choice of fabric, pattern and composition can transform their character, creating pieces that bridge memory and contemporary expression.

With its placed motifs and a visual language spanning abstraction, naturalism and figurative references, Versi Liberi gives each chair a distinctive new identity, showing how re-upholstery can become an exercise in design and reinterpretation.

Art Deco was never meant to be quiet.
