KYO Project – Reinterpreting traditional Japanese craft through creative collaborations.

The KYO project bridges Singapore designers and Japanese traditional craft makers from the Kanto region. This collaboration will see a series of furniture and lifestyle products co-created through a combination of the skills of Japanese craft masters and modern interpretations from Singapore designers, expanding the possibilities and applications of traditional Japanese crafts.

As an integral part of the bronze casting process, ‘Dancing Flames’ produced in collaboration between Hara Factory and Asylum, takes inspiration from the flames in which the moulds are placed into. It’s name is also a reflection of the unique pattern and fluid form created as a result of the flame.

‘Dancing Flames’ is a modular object that works as a single art object, but can be extended to become a larger sculpture that grows over time.
