Meeting Lucie DeMoyencourt in her beautiful Lucie Demoyencourt studio has been a real highlight of my trip to South Africa. Lucie and I have been working together since the the opening of The Jungle Emporium six years ago. As her only official reseller of her totally unique ceramic shells in Singapore, it has been such a joy to finally meet the artist behind her highly sought after works of art!

Being in her studio, surrounded by all of her incredible creations, her inspirations and filled with all sort of whimsical pieces as well as of course real shells wherever you look, made me feel like a real kid in a candy store. And when you share the same shell passion you always have something to talk about! Lucie gave me a tour of her stunning house, introduce me to the team I have been talking to for so long and spoke about our new project that I am very happy to share with you very soon. Doing a collab with Lucie has always been a dream of mine that is finally becoming true.

Of course I have also made a selection of new shells that I am bringing with me back to Singapore and will launch with the opening of the new studio. I couldn’t think of a better occasion! Stay tuned for the opening date! 🐚

A magical autumn afternoon at . Every single day I am more in love with South Africa! So many of you have told me how much I would love Franschhoek and this incredible vineyard and you were absolutely right. The best weather with blue skies, a light breeze and the golden colours of the estate made it even more special.

I am wearing our ā€˜Il Gattopardo’ Kaftan which is perfect in this setting, layered with a long cardigan and our new cactus silk belt that is arriving soon from Morocco. The perfect accessory for all our Kaftans šŸ‡šŸšŸŒž

Next stop is Simon’s Town, only 45 minutes from Cape Town. The very charming Fishing Village is especially famous for it’s huge colony of endangered African Penguins, which you can find literally everywhere, especially during mating season in the summer. This part of the journey is just a dream for every animal lover like I am!

We stayed in the charming little Beach Villa ā€šWhale Song’ with stunning views over the bay and beautiful coastal inspired furnishings. It used to belong to the artist Gerhard Hulme, whose incredible artwork you can find everywhere in the house. But the best part - the penguins are literally living in your garden! We had a couple with two chicks living in the rosemary bush outside our kitchen window! If you’re a light sleeper bring ear plugs but for me it was like a lullaby! I loved it!!
The little shops and Cafes in town are worth a stroll as well. Find the best Fish & Chips at Cafe Pescado in town - very authentic and simply delicious! We had the best Tea & home made Scones and jam at the quirky close to the Cape Good Hope Nature Reserve, where you can sit in the sunshine and enjoy your tea while the chicken, ducks, geese and little pigs are grazing between your legs. So much fun and such a great place to be with children! Highly recommend!

Personally I’d skip the The Nature Reserve. Entrance fees are high and it’s over crowded. We turned around at the peak and just went for a walk by the beach instead but you can find better and cheaper places to do that!

You can book Whale Song via the incredible team of .africa, which I can highly recommend! Their service is really second to none! They book the best places for you in South Africa, find the best rates and have the best recommendations! Also - watch the documentary ā€šPenguin Townā€˜ about Simonā€˜s Town. Their team used to stay in our villa while filming the series and many shots were taken at the Villa as well. 🌿

This might be the beginning of something very big! The first 24 hours in Cape Town and I am in love! Am I surprised…? No - not at all. Every single person I know that has been here, told me I would fall for South Africa!

Where to start? What stood out to me from the beginning is the incredible warm and welcoming nature of the people here. Impeccable service and friendliness wherever you go! The weather!! Blue skies, fresh air and the perfect temperature at this time of the year! The most delicious food I have had in a long time at very affordable prices. And then the beauty of it all - breathtaking nature, incredible architecture and so many talented designers and interior designers and artisans I admire are based here as well and cannot wait to meet. It’s really a hub of creativity and beauty and I can see where they get their inspiration from!

is easily in my top five of the most incredible grand hotels I have ever been to and now on my wish list for our next trip that is already in the planning! And if you have been following me for a while you know how much I love hotels. And we haven’t even scratched the surface of it all! We’ll be here for more than two weeks and I am so very excited to see it all.

With love from a very happy Juliane x

Gong Xi Fa Cai - Happy Lunar New Year šŸ§§šŸŠšŸŒøšŸŽšŸ”„šŸ®

2026 marks the year of the Fire Horse - Fire Horse years are associated with bold action, impulsivity, passion and breakthroughs. This is especially significant as the Year of the Snake was all about shedding negative energy. It’s a new start into a special year! May this New Lunar Year bring you an abundance of breakthroughs, good luck, prosperity and health!

Here is collection of Chinese New Year tables that I was lucky enough to create for one of our clients over the years. We sourced all ceramics, cutlery, glasses, decorations, embroidered linens as well as did all the flower arrangements for the house.

I felt honoured to be given the opportunity to create these different table settings on such an important occasion - all while incorporating Asian traditions and using classic Chinese New Year colour combinations. This is when I love my job the most - having complete creative freedom and making my customers happy! Meanwhile we also became good friends!

Creating in Lombok has been a pure passion project from the beginning to the end. The interiors are a mix of locally sourced and custom made furniture, vintage pieces, soft furnishings from South African based fabric designer - that we exclusively represent in Singapore, and mixed artwork like ceramic shells from , , , vintage art as well as of course one of our giant Indian tigers, that is having a special place in the media room.

The lamps are old ceramic vessels that we rewired and added custom made rattan shades from Bali and all carpets are custom made by The Jungle Emporium. Each room is inspired by a different theme - we have the classic master bedroom with the stunning emperor and empress art from auction house in Singapore, the coral twin bedroom with vintage coral artwork, coral carpet and cushions from The Jungle Emporium, the blue and white bedroom with ikats and the jungle green kids-room with bunkbed and decorated with our popular rattan elephant table and tiger cushions.

If you see Villa Belantara, you get the best idea what The Jungle Emporium is all about - a mix of colours, patterns, art and craftsmanship. Each piece selected and designed with passion! Even the plates, glasses and cutlery are from The Jungle Emporium.

And the best of all - you can rent the villa for your next holiday! The stunning views over the beach of Selong Belanak and the endless sky and sea makes you feel a little closer to heaven! Get in touch with for more information. 🌿
