The Fiore Kaftan - one of our newest arrivals and easily one of my favourite new pieces! The whole day I have tried to find the right words to sum up my emotions - 25 years after this fateful day in September, that started with the most glorious sunshine and blue skies and ended in utter horror and shattered dreams.

The day has left its mark on me more than anything else - the things I have seen, felt, heard and even smelled in the days after this tragedy. I have witnessed acts of evil but equally also acts of pure love and kindness that I will always remember.

All I can say today, is that I am in a New York State of mind - my thoughts are with this wonderful city and all the other places that have been affected that day. My heart goes to all the families that have lost loved ones that day. ♥️ 🇺🇸

Visiting my favourite Antique shop in Eppendorf - even if it is just window shopping!

Going to the Elbe and enjoying the fresh air and early autumnal weather. Who would have thought I’d ever miss the typical Hamburg drizzle! 💧

Our cozy apartment - lighting all the fall candles I can find and just enjoying this place with a hot tea in hand.

It’s been a very emotional 24 hours…. I have travelled to my hometown Hamburg to celebrate my mother’s 80th Birthday - and then within a few hours learned about the passing of first Dolly Parton and then Tim Curry - both at the age of 80! So many thoughts going through my head.

As a kid of the 80’s I grew up to the music of Dolly Parton and even more so ‘The Rocky Horror Picture Show’, my favourite musical and film as a child. I absolutely adored Tim Curry as Frank-N-Furter - his incredible charisma, his voice and insane looks…. I know every single lyric of the songs and played it nonstop on my walkman!

And then there is Dolly - beautiful, crazy Dolly - other than I loved her music, I always admired her for her determination, her big heart, her sense of humour and never ending talent!

I hate that we have entered that phase of loosing our childhood heroes. I have always felt drawn to eccentric people - so loosing Dolly Parton and Tim Curry in leas than 24 hours cuts deep. Today the world is a little less colourful! Farewell Dolly and Tim. Thank you for all the joy you brought into our lives 💖🫦💖🫦

I am so proud to share with you the first part of our new series ‘Behind the scenes with our artisans’. Since the beginning of The Jungle Emporium in 2020, I have always worked directly with the artisans, without any middleman in between. This way we were able to keep prices low but most importantly we were able to directly support the artisans and their incredible craftsmanship.

I have visited the majority of our main producers and it was always very important to me to be totally transparent about the manufacturing process. This way you know where our products are from but you will also cherish a little more all the hard work it takes to make them.

I have now started working with the wonderful team of UnderRootFilms to share with you the making of some of our most popular items in the shop. Part one is about our Zardozi embroiderers in Agra, who are making our beautiful intricate Christmas ornaments and stockings and embroidered velvet pouches, which are coming to the shop very soon. They are already working tirelessly on our new Christmas collection, which I think will be our best yet!

This is a Love Letter to Singapore - our home since 2017. What started ad an adventure and was meant to be only for a few years has become our true home. Out dog Rusty was only 6 months old

George and Olivia were only only 2 and 6 years old. So they really grew up in the little red dot.

We tried all the new food that Singapore had to offer and eating with our bare hands form Banana Leaves at Samy's Curry was a highlight for the children and is a regular destination until today.

One of my favourite destinations for. The moment we arrived until it sadly closed its doors a few years ago - Junkies Corner. I miss it every day!

The magnificent Gardens by the Bay. We were all fascinated by the beautiful Supertrees - something mine of us had ever seen before. It felt like entering Avatar!

My first close encounter with our monkeys in our jungle garden! I’ll never forget spotting the first one - the children were squeaking in joy and I was sightly in disbelief that this would be our new normal!

All the colours and scents of the beautiful flowers, trees and shrubs of the tropics! We swapped tulips and bluebells against Birds of Paradise and Frangipani and I couldn’t love it more!

Singapore - a paradise for children! New activities and exhibitions at every corner. Lights, music, special effects - everything that my kids love. Certainly never boring!

I loved starting to take the usual inside living room to the outdoors and have fresh cut orchids dotted around in every possible corner of the house. However I also quickly learned that things could mould which I never thought that would!! This was in our fist few months of living here when everything was still fresh and the tradition black and white blinds of our house still crisp and clean!

I learned to live the warm tropical showers and the heavy downpours of the thunderstorm. Something I love until today!

With the incredible support of having a helper at home, I had a lot of spare time and I quickly started thinking of starting a new business. An idea which I already developed in the same year we arrived and finally started two years later! The idea was truly born in the jungle!

While most people know the glamorous seaside town Forte dei Marmi, very little are familiar with Pietrasanta which is only a 10 minute drive away inland and easily one of my favourite places in Tuscany.

Pietrasanta is buzzing with life in the summer and is especially popular with Italian tourists. Sleepy during the day, the town comes alive during the night! After sipping Aperols in one of the many little bars around the piazza, people flock into the restaurants to meet friends for long dinners under the stars until late at night. The whole town beckoned pretty much an open air restaurant. Shops are often open until midnight, which makes a stroll with a gelato after dinner especially fun. Pietrasanta is the town of artists and sculptures. Excentric, colourful yet classic and elegant and full of life - which combines pretty everything I love!
