The form stays constant, but the function adapts into a new existence.
Invited by Carl Hansen & Søn, Thick and Thin Studio worked with components from the CH24 Wishbone Chair — armrests, factory offcuts and wooden elements from the production process — and considered them simply as material.
Freed from function, they begin to behave differently.
A curve can become a gesture.
A joint can become a line.
A mark can become part of the composition.
An offcut can find another place to belong.
Across pieces, form is shaped through restraint rather than addition. The character of the timber is left close to the surface — grain, colour, variation and imperfection remaining visible.
The work is less about changing the material than finding what is already within it.
Presented as part of The Living Craft: A Carl Hansen & Søn Experience at Chanintr Craft, brings together pieces that move beyond the language of furniture into a study of form, material and balance.
