This is our kids fort that we were able to build with the teams help. It was about 8'x8', we put a queen size mattress on top so whoever was on top could watch the tv across the room. Underneath we put chalkboard paint on the wall and a TV and seating. On the outside and on the turret we had rock climbing grips and also a rope to climb up. We wanted to make it for our kids and they absolutely loved seeing it on tv!

Our projects from the last week were a lot of fun. We made a huge headboard that went up onto the ceiling. We weaved together pieces of thin plywood and also put in LED lights on the edges. We decorated the space with blues, yellows and grays. Loved it!!
The kids retreat was also our design, it was an awkward space that we had to work around corners, doors and windows. We had some issues with the bunk beds, couldn't quite get what we needed and then had the wrong measurements. But we had a fun time dressing the space for our kids.
We also got to make the design choices and dress the bathroom too!

This is a cabinet that we designed from a door we found at an antique store. We had leftover plywood siding from another job and it gave it an awesome texture. It's painted a bright teal and then it's toned down with a brown wash.

Another one of our best projects on Home Free! We made and hung faux beams and painted it a rich gray. We used tin as a reflective surface in the top of the trey ceiling. We used ceiling tiles that looked like tongue and groove wood in the side of the trey. We used the same gray and gave it a light wash. Turned out fantastic!!

This was our absolute favorite room on Home Free. We had concrete and plywood projects that week. We expanded the fireplace by 1' wide and 2' high. Then we covered it with wire mesh and then concrete. It didn't turn out like we hoped but it still looks pretty good! We also had the light fixtures that we used cooper piping and had them as inserts that gave it more reflective light. We used about 40 2'x2' square of oak plywood to create the accent wall. We popped 4 out to create built in shelves and also allowed us to mount the concrete light fixtures. Hard to see in the photo but we also used the square to build 2 boxes (Ben used his CrossFit box making skills) and used them as side tables. We absolutely loved how the whole room came together!
Beautiful modern project from Home Free. We expanded the fireplace 1' out and 2' up. It didn't quite turn out like we wanted but it was our first experience with concrete. We took about 40 2'x2' plywood squares and mounted them on the wall. We made it 3D by bumping out 4 of the squares to make shelves. We also made actual movable square box side tables (inspiration from the CrossFit boxes Ben makes!). The concrete light fixtures are mounted to the underside of 2 of the square shelves. We didn't want the fixtures to be plain cylindrical so we had the "brilliant" (Mike Holmes words) idea to add the copper piping into them. They actually turned out fantastic!!
