How do you feel about a geometric cutting board? I’m obsessed! Get out your painter’s tape and head to the Goodwill! Tag me in your project... I would love to see! 🎨

Story time!
😊
In 2016 I had recently graduated from college, and like a lot of recent graduates... I was unsure of what I wanted to do with my life. 🙄 I was substitute teaching and working part-time at The Home Depot... and I LOVED it! I was proud of my college degree, but I was upset that I loved a job that didn’t require one. 🤷🏻‍♀️
I learned a lot working at the paint desk. My management team was amazing, and they really molded me into the customer service professional that I am today. I loved mixing paint and facilitating the do-it herself workshops every month. I think about this time in my life often, and I am so thankful for the experience.

Fast forward to 2020; I’m working in property management and I’m still trying to convince my residents that they need an accent wall. 😂 It’s funny how life works... I use the skills that I learned in college and the knowledge that I gained at The Home Depot every single day. Everything happens for a reason, and every experience is significant. I think I’ll always bleed orange though 😂🧡

I love my job now, but I miss my paint desk days! What was your favorite job?

My favorite part of painting something is the very beginning; before I open up the can of paint. Before I even pick up the brush. It’s the anticipation I feel when I decide it’s time to create something. I love the crispness of a fresh canvas just as much as I love the old piece of furniture that needs to be sanded down. I love that I get to decide when it’s time to create, or time for a change. Paint let’s me decide every time. If that isn’t the best metaphor for my life, I don’t know what is!

I know you haven’t heard from me in a while... Since my last post in 2018, I’ve moved to a new state 🍑started a new job 💸 and took forever to get settled into a routine!😛

It’s time for something messy, and something fun.. much like my second photo. Thank you for sticking around! Stay tuned for what’s next for The Paint Girl! The anticipation is the best part! 🎨💖

Update: Time goes by and it stops for no one! During this season of my life, I have been focusing my creativity on other things. Anyone who has had a wedding knows that planning takes over your life! I am taking my time settling into my new role as a wife, so please be patient with me. In the future, I plan to relaunch and rebrand The Paint Girl, but for now, check out some of my favorite details from my wedding, including some things I painted myself. Thank you to everyone who helped make this day so special. Almost 4 months later, and I am still not over it!! Riley Co. Photography & Video
